I have actually got light snowfall in Swinton, Salford right now, nothing to shout about of course but hey ho! My family down south have had a pasting, I was meant to be there this weekend but my automatic car got stranded trying to get up an icy hill out of my close yesterday in our 1cm of snow, so I didn't make it. I thought a snow day would make up for it, but it turns out they got it instead..... if I don't laugh, I'll cry.... (haha)

Deffo further north, let's hope this bodes well!

18z arome is much further north
Have you got a link/images? :-)

So far 18z looks to continue to shift south, although radar suggests it is further north than anticipated!

Even if the forecasts hadnt moved the whole system way south, id still be worried because we have been in the cold air today and still only managed cold rain. Does anyone more knowledgeable know why it would be any different if this system from the south pushed up into this air as originally forecast?
Heavier ppn/evaporative cooling. That said, are you sure you only got cold rain in Chorlton? I have friends in Levenshulme and Trafford that got snow, even in the city centre. Here in Swinton we have a dusting again from this evenings showers!

Finally the snow is settling again here, more to come according to the radar, and pretty heavy too. Nice fluffy flakes!

Rain with a bit of hail
Where in Manchester are you? I still have some lying snow from this morning, and snow showers started again about 15 mins ago here, no rain at all.

As predicted, snowing again in Swinton and I am roughly 50m asl

PPN to the west of GM heading more W to E now, confident it falling as snow for most!

It's only been snow here in Swinton, Salford today and I have no altitude. Tomorrow hasn't happened yet so it will be a case of radar watching!

Been snowing on and off all morning in Swinton, Salford. Was a white-out at around 9am this morning, snowing now with a covering!
-
Still falling heavily in Manchester city centre, even laying on grass, roofs, cars, not pavement or road, but that is quite good for the centre. Be better back in Swinton/Salford where I love though!
-
As others have said, white out in Salford in the heavy snow, now at work in Manchester city centre and it is snowing heavy, but not settling as well. Makes a change, as usually it is sleet and slush in city centre!

Not bad at least winter has arrived here finally conditions conductive to snowfall. How about Monday - I have heard that there could be more snow on Monday do you think we could get some more then? Before these "mild zonal" conditions that keep getting pushed back establish?
GFS still says some snow Monday, but let's wait and see, it doesn't suggest anything heavy. Next week will be cold but will warm up by Thursday and Friday most likely. But that may change. Always tricky to forecast/model a breakdown of cold!

Might be that a) it is Saturday night and b) many of us have snow falling, particularly across Scotland, NW and Midlands so are firmly in the regionals It has snowed since 2pm and still going in Manchester, mainly light but moderate to heavy at times, so 2 or 3cm.

Radar does show the ppn beefing up at the back end, suggesting it lasting a little longer. GFS suggests it won't stop till 6-9am, BBC and Meto weather apps say 1 or 2am. I was thinking earlier it would be done by midnight, now not so sure. As people have said, shame it isn't heavier, mainly moderate as been snowing since about 3pm here but not much to show for it considering the length of time, although obviously just nice to have decent snow which has laid, so not complaining at all!

Unsure next week - wet mild Wed Thursday onwards
At some point next week it will be milder, maybe 9 or 10oC, but there is still uncertainty on exactly when. Thursday looks a good call for now, staying cold until then! But mainly dry, except for Monday which may still provide some white stuff (but might not!)

We have a very wet cm here, which will likely melt unless the temp drops.
-1.3oC in Salford, registering 0oC at Manchester airport. Is it that much warmer in Chorlton?

To think that a few hours ago it looked like we had missed out and there was not much precipitation in the north sea!

Been lightly snowing for 20 minutes now, better than nowt I guess, and unexpected. Shame it doesn't look like lasting very long!
