That band of showers to the west over just exiting Ireland is more organised that anything we’ve had yet. Hang on in there!!
Exactly! :-) Have faith peeps!

THe radar looks shocking currently.
Have you seen what is coming over from Ireland? Should hit the NW in a few hours. PS: snowing in Manchester

I would give it time yet, the more organised ppn should now heading over, and showers should be with us overnight into tomorrow. Plenty of the day left yet!

Off to bed, nothing here in Lakeland as expected.
I will not wake up to a whiteout as forecasted. There will be no snowfall here in the next few hours.
Tomorrow will bring a repeat of sleet, hail and rain with no accumulations.
I have been using this forum for 15 years, experience has taught me to never take forecasted snowfall seriously. 99% of forecasted snow leads to major let-downs.
I am not even bothered as I knew this would happen, hope other forum users have taken note. I will report back when I wake up.
*I predict now at 05:17 that when I wake up there will no accumulated snow, it will be wet and cold.*
Was never forecast to be a whiteout for you this morning....

Diane on BBC North West hates cold... drives me crazy!

In the mod thread they’re saying it’s going across the North Midlands. It’s game on if so.
Yes, we just need it a SMIDGEN further south, another 50 miles would do it - hope to wake up to a southward correction tomorrow!

Deffo slightly further south on 18z GFS, just need the gradual southward changes to continue for the next few runs and could become very interesting. First 2 days of frequent snow showers to look forward to though :-)

Well it is hailing/sleeting in Swinton Salford, wasn't expecting anything wintry till the early hours! Hopefully will see snow tomorrow

IF - and its a big if, it tracks further south (always a possibility), it could be another 18th Dec 2010 for you - I know your location got battered because there was an Ipswich town match on the day a late kick off and it was a blizzard - somehow the game got completed - I think.
I am from Ipswich originally and I remember that date well, I remember around 12-15cm in London/EA at the time.
Match day news report includes a photo demonstrating the blizzard: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/championship/8212082/Ipswich-Town-3-Leicester-City-0-match-report.html

Oh I'm hopeful of seeing snow here and I'm sure many others will too. It looks interesting, and a lot more so than this week. Just can't see how it's going to be the most potent NW'ly in many years, that's all.
Maybe just wait until next week to see? You have made your point a fair few times now mate!

And that someone will be me...easterlies are no good for here ..snowise.
They are when a low comes bashing into the cold, and a battleground commences though! I grew up in East Anglia where rare E's always provided lots of snow showers, but I was always envious when a low came barging in and the W and NW got dumped on! I have now lived in Manchester for 4 1/2 years and I am moving back to Australia in 2018 and it hasn't happened since I have lived here(yet).. hopefully 2018 will change things!

It is dying!
Aye, can see it dying, particularly to the west! Damn!

Looks to be dying on the radar. Just a few more hours come on
Does it? I was just thinking, it doesn't look like it is moving or dying at all, just stalling over us. Fingers crossed!

Flakes much bigger, ppn heavier and starting to settle again in Swinton! Wahoo!

Been out for the last couple of hours. It started snowing lightly about an hour ago and against all odds it is snowing moderately now. Trying to figure out whether this is coming from the Irish sea or the North sea. Or a trough developing over us?lol
The PPN is intensifying directly over GM, and it expands and intensifies with each 5 minute update. Turning moderate here now too with bigger flakes, not quite enough to be settling though. Have snow patches left from yesterday but most has melted!

I'm a few miles to your SW and flakes are a touch larger.
It is still intensifying and expanding too, according to the radar!

Is it my imagination or has the radar echoes increased across parts of our region?
Clouds have definitely thickened. Could see the sun just about earlier on.
Not your imagination, it has been snowing for 30 mins here and getting a tad heavier now!

PPN intensifying over Manchester and south Lancs, this is a bit more like it!
