much as i despise the express, well played on that pr nod
-
very wintry 12z. lets wait for the daily express to cotton on...
-
london is huge. the weather varies massively here. ive been from snowstorm getting the tube to bright blue warmish sunshine getting off it. as for april, this far out, well expect showers!
-
great, so today's update is the introduction of the word 'generally". well done the met office. can someone explain what the difference is between unsettled and generally unsettled?
-
the FI 6z certainly gives winter a finale. as The Pit says, shame it's FI. worth a watch though
-
i remember lying snow in june. 1975 i think. anyway mostly uninspiring models today. spring is my least favourite season. can't we just skip it and head straight to a summer of hot sun and thunder
-
re: positive weather solutions. a punt in the dark, and essentially a load of pr grabbing nonsense
-
update? maybe they're just very confident! or maybe copy paste is easier over the weekend
-
the 12z does indeed paint a quiet and coolish picture in the short term. after the weather mayhem of this week, i would welcome it
-
well according to the bbc glencoe is the snowiest place in the world this winter. not sure about the logic there!! have ony been to glenshee before, and had a fine time. overall what an amazing snowfall, and when the roads are cleared great prospects for skiing into march
-
Ok here is the next date to meet up!
Not often you see me look to the last frame in GFS FI!
indeed. are we skipping spring this year?
-
the bigger the flakes the more marginal the conditions. not sure what london will get from this, maybe hampstead will get a dusting
-
had odd flurries here in london. interested in that ppn heading in from the north west
-
Remember from a couple of weeks ago, nothing is set in stone past +120/+144. Current output may favour a return to mild SWrlys but that return is beyond the true reliable time frame.
swt.erlies anything for quiet life!

Is that a trough I see across central/southern Scotland?
when exactly? LS
-
don't you just yearn for a spanish plume with scattered storms and barmy nights. i havent looked at the unfurl of the 18z, but the beeb seem to be increasingly warning of snow next week from the north mids south
-
a little snow here, about as exciting as semolina though
-
i have to agree with tamara, it's fairly pointless having a go at the south east. a lot of people live here. its like bordeaux moaning about paris getting more attention. on the model front, well the 12z is out very soon, but this damn low wont be nailed for a few more runs i guess. all interesting though. LS

Yes can you imagine the bbc forecaster saying an Arctic Hurricane is about to hit Scotland! that would cause mass panic. Often you need to see a decent length northerly to see those, really unless you're in the north or ne you rarely see them as they die out quickly once they make landfall.
yes an arctic hurricane headline on the bbc forecast summary would cause media mayhem! the daily express would run out of pages. seriously though, i'm very interested in how this low pans out. height will always be a factor, but this, i think, is winter's last bellowing shout
-
Heres a great link and yes it shows an eye! I think thats why they're also called Arctic Hurricanes, it does seem an over the top way of describing them but its true.
great imagery there nick, almost a bit "the day after tomorrow".
-
great 18z. fascinating winter, and lots of potential over the next week or two
-
Hmmmm, lovely Nazaneen didn't really suggest anything of any note for tonight on the local BBC forecast. Although I'm not sure she is actually a real weather forecastor...but I'll let her off
This could ever so easily be another extreme east Kent affair with most of the showers pushing through the channel and onto that sticky up bit in France which always seems to take a real battering in a north easterly
if they get it wrong for kent it will be the most overhyped dud ever. i do however think that east kent will get a brief pasting, east north downs especially. as for france, do you mean cherbourg?

hail and snow in london. nothing on the radar so maybe an isolated development
-
I thought that exact thing.
i guess on this site being struck by lightning, whisked up by a tornado, or hit on the body by giant hail would be the most appropriate way to go

i'm with mushy, why is it damn spring? bit cloudy, but not too cool, dry, after a fabulous weekend. fine if anodyne weather for most. ok the charts arent groundbreaking, but i'm not moaning.
