  1. The troughing looks too weak to bring anything significant up from France. With any luck it will be a dryish "breakdown" from the North.
  2. Wow, hope so . I've got everything crossed for Friday. That said, i am going to the dress rehearsal on Wednesday, which should at least be in the good weather.
  3. All i hope for is for the opening ceremony to be in decent weather. We all know how to cope with rubbish weather in the uk, heaven knows we've had enough in the last few months. But there's no denying that great though the Jubilee pageant was, it was marred by the atrocious weather and the low cloud spoilt what should have been great views of the London skyline, and stopped a helicopter flypast. We need half decent weather with high enough cloud base and not much wind for fireworks and lighting to look amazing, as well as for the performances to look their best. FIngers crossed
  4. Thunder and lightning in east London. Just saw a plane lining up for approach to Heathrow get struck- spectacular!
  5. I am watching the models in astonishment and fascination - i don't think i can remember such an unremittingly bad summer period like this with daily rain like this for many, many years, if ever . I'm wondering whether this will end up even worse than 2007 . It's perhaps not quite as cool as 2007, although that summer did follow 2006 which was very warm so perhaps skewed my memory. i can remember some wet summers, but maybe we had 2 , 3 weeks of bad weather in a row - and sometimes quite showery periods. not 7 or 8 weeks with frequent deluges and rain events lasting days. I know the north suffered even worse than the south east in 2007. And 2009/10, when it was a little better in the south, it was appalling the north. I think this year the south is also getting it bad once more. Apart from the 8 or 9 days of settled warm weather in May, it has rained virtually every day since the beginning of April in London. i'm not sure we've had 2 dry days together. It seems to be groundhog day every single day. When will it end?
  6. Yes, the showers seem to bubble up and develop quite quickly , maybe we will get another couple.
  7. Expect the 2 day high pressure to be downgraded too...
  8. Are we going to get any more in South London this evening?
  9. i was just thinking the same - i don't think we have had more than 5 or 6 dry days since the start of June.
  10. Looks like something quite serious is developing doesnt it ? The area over the midlands is growing...
  11. Yes, quite scary for places like Hebden Bridge, surrounded by steep hills which are soaked. Every significant rainfall event from now on will see the river rise like a tide until we get a break in the weather.
  12. i was up in W Yorks this weekend. Never seen it so lush ( and soggy). All the rivers are in winter spate. Each rain event now will bring levels up and up, the hills are so saturated, it just runs straight off.
  13. It might be a bit bumpy going up if there's convection but i wouldnt worry - planes can cope with that!
  14. This is certainly the wettest few months i can remember in London & i've lived here 15 years. The next week looks very wet and cool so those totals will be ramping up even more. I can see July being one of the wettest ever.
  15. Crikey, downgrade from very poor to awful! What a dreadful outlook for the rest of the week. This summer is turning out every bit as bad as 2007.
  16. Pouring again now. Really has been an awful day with rain on and off throughout. I can see it raining for much of the night and won't be far away tomorrow either.
  17. Looks like this summer is going to turn out as bad as 2007. I'm convinced of it now having looked at todays GFS output. Appalling,
  18. It looks to me from flicking through this afternoon's GFS that this "locked in" pattern with LP over the British Isles is strengthening in the next 2 weeks, rather than weakening, and if anything we are looking quite at just as wet and unsettled fortnight, as the last 2 weeks with large rainfall totals, little sun, and a tendency to cool weather - with 20 degrees at the max - nearer 15 for many spots. Pretty much akin to 2007. After the last 3 months , one wonders when this is going to end. It seems certainly not in the next fortnight.
  19. Absolutely peeing it down here in Dulwich now - been going since 430 yesterday avo - talk about a deluge! wonder what the local totals have been around London.
  20. Excellent ! Hope everyone enjoys their street parties tomorrow!
  21. the weather hasnt spoilt my day, but looking forward to some dryness tomorrow!
