  1. Most important thing at this stage is it looks like becoming significantly colder from the east during the second half of next week with widespread frosts, ice days for some and snow flurries to eastern counties bordering the north sea.. it could become better still...very encouraging..and a cracking Ecm 12z mean..another good day.
  2. Stunning Ecm 12z ens mean, even better than the 00z which in itself was excellent! This could be a better cold spell than some think!
  3. Anytime cold weather spreads from the east we (coldies) should be delighted because it doesn't happen often..I agree, realistically it's as good as it gets in a British winter..hope the Gfs 18z is a stonker like last night.
  4. That's unfortunate but the Ecm 12z is colder than the 00z for most of the uk. The Gem 12z is worth another look, reminds me a little of the famous January 1987 for a while..we coldies can dream can't we?..it's going to turn colder next week, hopefully much colder!
  5. It looks like we are going to be flooded with cold air during the second half of next week, much better than the models were indicating recently..snowy set ups could be in the pipeline. Get the deep cold air entrenched and the rest will take care of itself..I'm happy with the runs today, especially the Gem and Ecm..more upgrades please!!
  6. I'm joining the running commentary..cheering the Ecm 12z on as the cold air seeps slowly w / sw
  7. Who knows, the Gem could be right, sometimes it performs as well as the so called big guns!
  8. Fully agree, thankfully the outlook from next midweek onwards looks increasingly cold and blocked..mild swly mush well and truly banished! In the short term, there could be some hill snow across the Midlands and northern england tonight as colder air digs in from the west.
  9. At least it's going to become cold enough for snow which is important and frosts will become widespread..better than mild mush any day! Generally the models support a cold outlook. Ps..I had a laugh when I read that most of north America can expect a mild February and early spring.. haha
  10. This could be a prolonged cold spell we are looking at with plenty of time for snow to make an appearance..The Ecm 00z ensemble mean looks very nice if you are a coldie like I am!
  11. Sigh of relief, the mild end to the Ecm 00z doesn't look likely, instead it looks like becoming progressively colder from the east from next midweek onwards with frosts becoming more widespread and cold crisp days, especially further east..get the cold air in place etc..
  12. Yes Mucka they are magnificent, hoping for more of the same! can't get enough of these superb charts! :- ) Sweet dreams coldies
  13. The models may look even better tomorrow etc..right now it's very good to be a coldie looking at these wonderful charts from various models..hopefully much more to come!
  14. Sensational Gfs 18z tonight, shows us what is possible and its not way out in FI when the fun begins either!..desperately hoping this trend from the models continues! Ps..Sidney is preparing to do battle with the beast from the E / SE
  15. The Ecm 12z is trending the right way, towards cold but this is just the beginning, it could turn into something much better in the coming days..it's great to not be talking about southwesterly zephyrs isn't it!
  16. So..the Ecm 12z has gone from poor to very good..phew what a relief, I enjoy the running commentary but it can get confusing which is why I like to let the run finish before commenting.
  17. No but it's interesting to compare what they are currently saying with what the models are currently showing and in my opinion there is more wintry potential in the models at the moment than I have seen this winter so far..hoping the pros come on-board soon. :- )
  18. It's what the pros are saying, just my spin on their wording but as for the models today, they look loaded with wintry potential but no mention of snow in the latest update, that could of course change again tomorrow etc. Nothing to ramp unless the MO come on-board I'm afraid
  19. It looks like staying generally unsettled and occasionally windy with spells of rain, heavy at times and temps varying between average / mild until around next midweek or perhaps thursday before the continental anticyclonic influence begins to arrive in the east with drier and brighter conditions but with increasing night frosts and probably fog patches with the unsettled atlantic weather becoming more restricted to the west of the uk as time goes on.
  20. I agree it's thrilling stuff for snow starved coldies, hope the growing model trend from the 00z / 06z becomes reality!
  21. I can see good potential for a battleground scenario developing over the uk during next week into week 2 as the atlantic and cold scandi block lock horns, hopefully leading to snowfalls in parts of the uk..really hope February delivers the snow most of us crave and deserve!
  22. Very pleasing Ecm 00z for coldies, a significant upgrade on last night's 12z..hopefully it will be turning progressively colder from the east next week with snow in the forecast too!!
