Just as spring seems to get into gear, it stops again. Still. Like Pete, our grass has started to grow.
Also, I have noticed quite a few bumble bee's, but they look bigger this year
Some trees have small leaves, however, others are still completely bare.
It really is an unusual start to nature this year.
My grass is really green - I have mowed it twice so far this year, but it is quite healthy - and I agree the bumble bees are HUGE!!! I think I have a nest of them in the eaves of the house - at least I am hoping it is bees and not wasps - had a wasp next last year which I had to have terminated as there were loads of them buzzing around. If it is bees, I will let them alone, I quite like them - from a distance!!! The May tree outside the bedroom window is just about to bud, but the one over the road is in full swing! Really odd!
My daffs are up and flowering and the hyacinths and crocus and my primroses are doing well with this weird weather as well!!!

okay but I do not see a problem regarding safety either. As OOn has pointed out and also the point about safety was made by the computer people who say there is no safety problem unless the fan does not function correctly. Much the same as with any other electrical piece of equipment that generates heat.
John
I agree - things are built to a higher safety spec than in my Dad's time in any event.
-
Safety? Aren't lots of things in the hosue left on all night? They seem to cope ok.
I have to admit that in the computer room at home, we leave all three comps on (standby) the whole time (and the fax etc). I also leave most electrical appliances plugged in which my Dad told me never to do.
He was a fireman in London Fire Brigade and told us that even if the telly is switched off, if it is still plugged in the wall, it could cause a fire.

We probably already are; I found this excerpt -
Paul Brown, environment correspondent
Monday October 11, 2004
The Guardian
An unexplained and unprecedented rise in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere two years running has raised fears that the world may be on the brink of runaway global warming.
Scientists are baffled why the quantity of the main greenhouse gas has leapt in a two-year period and are concerned that the Earth's natural systems are no longer able to absorb as much as in the past.
The findings will be discussed tomorrow by the government's chief scientist, Dr David King, at the annual Greenpeace business lecture.
.......
But as we know, the government never provide the public with full facts.

Hi All
This was the only thread I did not post the fact that the first thunderstorm of 2006 for London has just passed over London Bridge, heavy rain with hail mixed in and some good rumbles of thunder, not too much lightening.
Cheers
FC
It's brightening up now,

Well not a bad day for early Spring.

In the Spring I bought a Melaleuca Alternifolia [Tea Tree], back then it was about 2.5 feet tall, it is now just over 5.5 feet tall and growing in a pot. Throughout the summer its had lovely bright gree foliage and has thrived.....until now..I bought it indoors when we had a spate of frosts and it is looking very bare and dropping almost all its leaves, the ones it has left are extremely dry and curled despite watering etc. I have even put it back outside in a more sheltered spot....have i killied it by bringing it indoors ? or do u think it will revive itself ?
any advise from an experienced gardener will be appreciated !!
regards

Funny you should mention that but I brought in two plants - one a geranium and the other a flowering cacti - I brought them into the conservatory thinking they would be better in there than out in the frost and they had the same symptoms - withering up of the leaves, etc and the geranium flower buds were dying from the top down.
I wondered whether I had killed them by bringing them by giving them a temperature change - I put the geranium back out, but it still looks poorly.
