  1. Just thought I'd pop in and add my thoughts.... After years and years of constant let downs and disappointments I am expecting nothing at all here in the Lake District. What happened to me last year will never ever leave me.
  2. In my 15th year on this forum, this is the worst winter by a LONG way.
  3. Neither of which brought any significant snowfall to my locations in Lakeland and (briefly) North Devon!
  4. Well, I have been posting on net-weather since winter 03-04 so this will be my 15th year and I have never known such dire prospects for a true winter and snowfall. Given the fact that in the last 15 years I have experienced 1 'true' winter 09-10 and possibly 10-11, and maybe 2 major snowfalls - it is fair to say that I never expect much anyway. Last winter was not too bad for me, experiencing a number of slight coverings in Cumbria, albeit nothing major it was refreshing from the norm - and some of you may remember I was in the south-west for the 'snowstorm' and ended up in a 5 mile circular radius in the Barnstaple area - the only part in the whole of the south-west that received no snowfall at all. That, personally was the last straw for me and I no longer crave cold winters and snow, as it always end's up in disappointment. It is fair to say I could not care less anymore. The UK is a maritime climate, harsh cold winters are extremely rare, as is major snowfall - and it sure is;nt happening this year. Any talks of SSW is simply ramping to keep coldies enthused. I would expect the rest of winter to be dominated by the Atlantic, mild with rain, with perhaps the odd high pressure interlude which will bring slight short-lived cold spells. Any major snowfall will be restricted to high ground and, as ever, Scotland.
  5. Ah well after last weeks anti-climax il probably be heading away from the boards now, cheesed off again like pretty much every winter in recent living memory. Certainly nothing significant in the way of snow coming for this region for the rest of the winter. I only started posting again due to last weeks forecasted snowfest which I drove 250 miles to be apart of, which of course never materialized. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of what will be a cold but snowless winter, and enjoy sring/summer '15 - can't believe ive been here for over 12 years now!! Terra'....
  6. Just goes to show how what a crap location were in, I mean how can the south benefit better than us from a northerly or a north westerly.
  7. Totally agree with you here I am incredibly frustrated - beyond belief. Can't possibly look forward to a potential breakdown though they for me are not snow events. Sorry just at a loss as to whats going on, especially with forecasts over next few days set to miss us again. Swearing again, and again, and again...
  8. Good to see this thread quiet with the majority of people realising our chances of any significant snow over the next few days and in fact weeks being minimal. Personally in the last 2 years I have experienced: 1 day of falling wet snow which didn't accumulate at all. A 20 minute heavy snow shower which gave a cm and dissapeared the day after. In 24 months that is nope - still swearing**g pathetic!! And with again all parts of practically the whole of nope - still swearing**g Britain set to get more snow than us I am at an absolute loss as to what the hell is going on.... I think out of the majority of posters here (and i have been here since 2003) i have no doubt fared worse off than everyone else, perhaps along with some of the members on the west coast of Cumbria, and, unusually Preston which is a dire location for snow.)
  9. on the main forum a thread just started of a potential polar low forming just off Norway, seems interesting...
  10. Would'nt expect much Tuesday night myself - i think experience is teaching me now that we 'just don't get snow. And getting excited for the potential of a cm is just ridiculous in my opinion.
  11. No snow for our area next few days Sparkle. Certainly nothing significant anyway.
  12. preciscly! Any significant snowfall will fall anywhere, significantly away from the north west. Seriously tho guys tonights a non-event as is Tuesday.
  13. Just watched the Alex Deakin forecast. Just watch that huge plume of heavy snow completely avoid us (por certainly me here in Bolton.) Can't wait for this utter farce of a winter to end, bring on Spring/Summer..... Yeah spot on there Matt: 'The snowless south of the region' - LOL!!
  14. Haha exactly what ive done last few nights. Drove back weds night expecting a forecasted 'dumping': got nothing. Thurs night: Hype and polar lows: Got a 1cm covering which melted by morning after. Today: Rain. No snow to be seen anywhere. Totally bemused as I have been every winter with the exception of winter 10/11.
  15. Maybe the odd snow shower feeding into NW England over the next 4/5 days, however nothing too significant (away from the usual suspects on high ground of course.) Last night was 'our' night its fair too say, and it proved to be another anti-climax for many of us.
  16. Unlikely too. Any snow showers hitting the Bolton area are tending to be sporadic, localised and short-lived. Certainly nothing too significant in my area.
  17. 0.25cm of snow in my location, no falling snow. everyone else around me getting hammered with accumulations increasing gradually. Really cant be a***d anymore!!!
  18. Surrounding parts of Bolton reporting snow, a swell as nearby Salford, Swinton, Manchester as well as Chorley and Leyland area etc reporting heavy snow and accumulations. As for where I am? Nothing but a short heavy shower. It just get's better!! I mean it literally now seems as though every surrounding town in a circle around me is getting it right now but me. Ahahahahahha update: RAIN!!
  19. Hillarious stuff, 3 people reporting heavy snow right now in Bolton. I live in Bolton too but where I am??: NO snow falling. Oh well that 15 minute shower was great, back to the beer. goodbye all!!!
  20. a fellow Boltonian is reporting heavy snow, it has stopped in my part of Bolton. Will keep every1 updated.
  21. Currently under a snow shower that began v.heavy and gave a full covering, now light snow. Nothing too significant and will probably clear away pretty soon followed by a fairly quick thaw - current temps 2.5C.
  22. Yes. Set to track south wales and south west england. I felt this would happen.
  23. polar low predicted to track way south of our region. No significant snow for anyone in our region. Looks like the south west will benefit from a north westerly system and a polar low. Is it April 1st????
  24. rain/sleet here in bolton. just a spredicted. Yawn
