  1. A reasonable chance Wilts, Glos, East Somerset and high north Dorset could see substantial snow from this if as some of the charts show the front stalls across the middle of the country and slides more south than s/e. Surface temps will be very cold and winds not too high to mix, so it may well not just be the east that catches this;. Also think the front could edge west as it reaches its eastern extent and slips south..thoughts anyone? Better than Jan anyway!
  2. HAVING MISSED THE LAST 3 MONTHS IT'S TIME TO AGAIN PRETEND i KNOW WHAT i AM DOING. i THEREFORE CONFIDENTLY PREDICT A CET OF 14.8C FOR AUGUST!
  3. Hi SB ....that jump from May to June CET on your list would be the highest ever difference in 300+ years of records, some achievement if it comes off. Personally I hope May is a little warmer, lol.
  4. I certainly do not think another 2007 is likely but I can see a couple of warmish spells in the southern half and no really cold prolonged spells....so I am inclined towards 9.2C, typical for this century thus far
  5. I'll toss you for it Stu with my 6.6, going to come down to the usual month end adjustment imo lol.
  6. Ok its still and finally 6.6 C for me please.......hopefully!
  7. March is always a difficult call with winter and spring pulling in opposite directions! So my call will be 6.6 C please.
  8. It is too early even to start guessing, if a deep cold spell appears in the next week or two (unlikely, tho I do think it will get quite cool) then the start of March would likely affect the CET for the month. My inclination is for cooler than average but 4.5-5.5 is alarge spread for now.
  9. Hi, this month is a problem. I do believe that we shall see a very cold and widely snowy picture emerge from around 5th Feb for 2+ weeks, thereafter even if the Atlantic does not return in force the sun is gaining height all the time and if we have slack winds then daytime maxes could be quite high esp. for sthn areas; I'm sure mins will compensate but only if skies are clear at night. So I am torn between a chilly 3-3.3 degs or a cold 2-2.4degs. January I plumped for 3degs and am happy with the outcome but only courtesy of a very cold first half. Feb could be similar with perhaps the cold lingering longer so my bet/gamble/instinct this time is to plump for......2.7 (a cold compromise). Thanks. 2.7 degs it is then!!!
  10. As I write I am in Canada where sub-zero is the norm and in the last week we have had a LOT of snow, but this will not influence my belief that January will be below average CET back home. I am going for a modestly cold 3.0 degs. A very merry Xmas and New Year to you all.
  11. HI allI have followed but not posted for a couple of years, now I have a little more time I may activley join in again. So a late start but I would like to post a guess of 3.9 for the Dec CET competition. I may even remeber to do all 12 this time around!!! Many thanks, Bobd29...
