  1. This is likely to be quite severe, best not to underestimate so use tomorrow to prepare and in the event of power loss (quite likely) be sure you have torches etc don't use candles; please everyone stay safe...
  2. Frosty you have input a lot of work into this and deserve applause for that alone. It is quite possible that. a fairly short timeframe distorts data but I have to say the findings are certainly interesting, particularly the Eurasion snowcover ratios that clearly show a factual historic record whether coincidental or not. So I for one would be interested in your forecast based on the above sequences (makes a change from teleconnection relationships, interesting tho these are as we edge towards another winter). Good luck, and good effort...
  3. Much of Wiltshire and certainly here in Trowbridge has escaped any rain and no sign of a thunderstorm, so my garden didn't get the torrential refresher I promised it....now looking like a potential desert!!!!
  4. This is perfect for me, not too hot or humid, nice warm breeze......good shorts and t-shirt weather around 21C; long may it last
  5. I think the weather is playing with us this year so I'll go for 15.6 for June
  6. Must be just the south of the area, 2mm here in Trowbridge early morning nothing at all since....what a difference 50 miles makes! Hoping for a good weekend though across the region
  7. Think this topic may be redundant in a couple of daysTThink this topic may be redundant in a couple of days
  8. Looking at the March CET competition I don't think anyone had much of an idea as to how the month would pan out, cannot remember when nobody got remotely close to what the final figure is likely to be in any previous month
  9. I'm a fan of METO so not having a dig.....but my initial thoughts are that if you put an equal amount on each horse in a 5 horse race at the same odds for each then you cannot lose, of course you cannot win either.....so the net result is 'haven't a clue?' (expect to be shot down for this)
  10. winds turning a bit more s/e so slightly warmer by day but clear frosty nights so I'd go for around 2.8 CET avge Fri-Mon, pretty cool overall.
  11. Ian F just hinted that next Monday might be a little more interesting....perhaps something to keep an eye on?
  12. Agree could well be 2.8 imo.absolutely amazing, and nobody went anywhere near that in the competition which just shows how extremely unusual this month has been.
  13. Fax charts will be interesting as this week unfolds. Even now they show just how difficult it is for the deepening LP in the west/mid atlantic thursday to make much inroads eastwards. Couple this with the lower pressure over the whole of western europe down into africa and it seems very likely that the huge atlantic low will migrate southeast and we will get gale force easterlies in southern uk possibly with a snow event if the passage is sufficiently north. What remains very unclear is whether the low will spawn a cut-off that may take a somewhat different path, perhaps more northerly? Certainly to be interesting as it develops.
  14. Hi Bottesford Could be frustrating from your back yard but here in the West it's pretty much ideal, sunny most of the day perhaps light wispy clouds and a pleasant 72 degs (22C) by afternoon; June at its best methinks
  15. aaah....summer with warmth and a nice dry easterly rather than heat and humidity from a spanish plume, sounds fantastic to me
  16. cold front moving in slowly, main event after dark, strong easterly/sely wind, low dew points....nothing marginal at all for anyone north of the M4 and places like Cotswolds/Oxford/Warks could be quite interesting by Saturday lunchtime; not a day for travelling for sure stay safe people
  17. time to come off the fence, it just has to warm up eventually so I'll plump for a nice 8.9 please
