  1. Last few days showed the worst of winter maybe the next few and weekend will show the best? Stunning clear crisp blue sky day today complete contrast to yesterday.
  2. Add Melksham to the list, and quite a few areas of countryside in between, to the list....tomorrow looking really grim. Heed the warnings and stay safe people
  3. 4.5 for me please, should manage to get within a couple of degrees this time!!!
  4. What can you say .....been a great star to the New Year so HNY to everybody, and we have the great debate of JP v METO to look forward to this January, should be fascinating to see how the month unfolds who will blink first? Whatever happens let us enjoy the forum and the weather....
  5. Ah nostalgia.....when every winter at least had the expectation of a snowy period, these days it is just a hope buffeted by the endless mild wind and rain. A child of the 1962/1963 winter me, so perhaps I was spoiled at an early age, but there have been several noteable winters since, and I do refuse to give up on seeing a foot (30cms to some of you) of level snow forming metr high drifts in the easterly gale, when was the last easterly gale by the way even 2009/2010 did not truly deliver that. Come on winter, arrive at my doorstep. I would even happily wait till next year if I could be really confident that 2016/2017 would replicate my dreams of past wonderlands. happy Christmas to you all.......
  6. Brilliant hope Eva doesn't wash him away! Some hope from GP looking at mid-Jan onwards we do need something to remove that warm bulge that has resided over us for weeks now, heart goes out to those flood victims in the NW
  7. Come on Dave your beast is stirring.....give it a shove!
  8. Echo others a very well constructed forecast, huge effort, and I wish you luck when we inevitably review it....thanks
  9. If only if only......a decent straw to clutch but let us wait until T120 on at least 2 of GFS ECM or METO, but I have to say I cannot see what is causing the PV to disrupt as you suggest, anyone?
  10. Fergie is a fully fledged, highly qualified professional meteorologist....we are fortunate to have his insight and reflection on Exeter thoughts. The message may not always be what we want to hear but as they say, don't shoot the messenger he is just stating it as it is...carry on Fergie
  11. Would like to go lower but will settle for a chilly 6 please
  12. Raw easterly, cloud will take time to break today, if it does, feels like November!
  13. Think it depends where you are, more a north v south perspective. Here June and the first half of July were in the main good summer months but since the school holidays, with the odd exceptional day, it has been mostly average to poor with August in particular being more wet and drab as the month progressed. Seems a long time since August really delivered a fine summer spell of a week or more. Roll on autumn and winter.
  14. Chris Fawkes for me, though Nina Ridge comes close ....on a regional note we are lucky to have Ian Fergie
  15. The famed Trowbridge rain shield is holding firm, would certainly welcome a couple of torrential t-storms today, fingers crossed
