  1. Really really gloomy and dull, temp 11C, no wind. No wonder people get depressed at times, just awful weather!
  2. Hi WIB, interesting hypothesis but seems totally at odds with Nick F’s storm chart in the post above. Looking at the 200 mph jet stream spawning very deep lp systems our way does not show any indication of blocking far south of the pole so hard to see anything more than transient nw spells of interest to cold lovers. Glad to hear your views on this.
  3. Good to see you posting Fred, hope you re well. Happy with an average/below forecast as by definition this means there will be colder periods and that is an improvement on the last few years. All to look forward to.
  4. No one knows at this stage imo so I dismiss prophets of doom who already condemn winter 2017/18 to another mild fest. To my mind we are edging towards memorable winters in the late teens early twenties so my hope is that 2017 will be the start of this progress and there will be a couple of respectable snow events especially December and Jan. Hardly seen a flake of snow here for at least 4 years so we are long overdue....come on Santa.
  5. Steady rain now in Trowbridge, hopefully will clear later and leave a dry fresher pleasant day tomorrow.
  6. Pouring down here in Trowbridge, no need to worry about the deficit now...bring the sun back pleeeease
  7. Yeah 2012 with endless rain, serious flooding for many...a really rotten summer overall.I quite enjoyed 1976 by the way and the thunderstorms that ended it were memorable.
  8. At least Sidney will be happy....and delighted he is not in the grey nothingness of Wiltshire. Another day extremely boring beckons!
  9. Just horrible, cloudy chilly nothingness...only positive is its dry, even then we need rain...but preferably at night. No signs of warm sunny weather, May not looking great at least to mid -month. Do hope we get a proper summer this year....at least for a few weeks!
  10. A proper Omega Block would bring a lot of prolonged warm sunny weather if in the right place. They can be very hard to shift a la 1976, and as we are already in a very dry period in some areas it could get to be a problem. Be nice to have a summery couple of months with increasing warmth but be careful what you wish for imo.
  11. The snow shield in Trowbridge has finally been breached...a flake has fallen, exciting times ahead
  12. Great for cold and frost but no signs I can see of any undercut or snow, HP holding Atlantic moisture at bay....please inform if I am wrong
  13. Cannot complain at the number of frosts since November, a very marked improvement on the last few years. Just over a third of winter left so is anybody brave enough to forecast a widespread snowy event for the SW before the clock ticks into Spring? My bet would be unlikely, but with so many surprises could you rule it out?
