  1. @TheToastPeople. Sky to the NW of MK is pitch black again and I'm pretty sure I could hear low rumbling distant thunder a couple of mins ago out towards Towcester area. Might be in luck yet and perhaps Kempstons 2nd bout?
  2. Went through MK a while ago, dropped brief spell of moderate rain, but no thunder
  3. Sky to the North & North West of MK is black, has a greenish hue to it, so I'm expecting hail shortly. Hopefully a few cracks of thunder too, but not heard anything yet. Fingers Crossed
  4. Hmmm Storms to my north, to the east and the south, and here in MK it's lovely and sunny under that huge precipitation free gap running from NW Wales all the way through the south midlands. Still it's nice and warm out
  5. Lots of blue sky around here now, nice day really. All the showers that have formed so far in other parts today seem too closely packed together and all fighting for energy.Hoping as the cape builds further towards here this afternoon the clearer skies will help any showers become proper storms and not just passing thundery short showers.
  6. A couple if light showers earlier , now getting some really nice convection firing up.
  7. Very strong Meso on a classic looking super cell over Dodge City KS at the minute, low rapidly rotating wall cloud that's started to spit out funnels. Looks like it could produce a large tornado soon.
  8. Think you guys are tracking the storm im currently watching live on another chasers cam, the meso is really wrapping up now, watch if you get close to the circulation it's dropping golf ball sized hail.
  9. Could well have been, thanks for finding the article. I thought it sounded like an explosion and not thunder, perhaps it was the fuel tank exploding I could hear, as I live less than 1KM from the Bus Station right by the shopping centre.
  10. About 20 minutes ago there was an almighty bang in Milton Keynes thought it was thunder but it didn't rumble and nothing is showing on radar as electrified. Very strange as it sounded more like an explosion, did anyone else hear it?
  11. Been a lovely day with nice fluffy cumulus floating bye, how ever to the south and southwest the sky is turning dark and very thundery looking with clouds forming at different heights and some very large towering cumulus
  12. Been overcast here all morning with outbreaks of light patchy rain, but the suns trying to break through now and the temperature is rising. Very calm and humid even though the temp isn't that great. People have been saying they are not sure how we'd see storms, but I think it's due to complex set of fronts currently moving around the country acting as the forcing mechanism, so once you get a clear slot showers are likely to grow quickly.
  13. Thoroughly dismal day here, nothing but low cloud and outbreaks of rain.... Was hoping for a nice storm or two but have been watching the radar all day and it's the usual scenario of crud while over the low countries it's all kicking off. As someone mentioned earlier I think it's due to front on the approaching LP to the south west making inroads faster than expected. The rainfall on the front is intense and looking at satellite imagery the cloud tops look fairly high, so I'm wondering if the front will interact with warm plume as it pushes in becoming thundery overnight or if all the energy will be pushed off to the east?
  14. No electrical activity in the shower at all. Brief spell of heavy rain from an elevated cloud base, and it's clearing through.
  15. Nice shower developing to my south, can see the core of heavy rain and possibly hail falling. Looking at the appearance I'm just waiting to hear thunder any time soon.
  16. Need to keep an eye on that cell in Devon, few reports on UKWW of torrential rain, hail & thunder now. From peoples reports about cloud movement at different layers of cell and the radar return showing a strong circular back edge, I wouldn't be supprised if it was a low topped super cell watching it's track in the last hour. Hopefully someone will get pics.
  17. A few large breaks in the cloud cover around the mk area forming now. In the clear slots I can see large cumulus congestus forming in the distance.
  18. Nice line of storms sitting to the west of mk at the moment, cAn hear the thunder rumbling in the distance
  19. Sky is really dark here in MK, heavy rain falling possibly convective by the size of the raindrops, just waiting to see if we get any lightning and thunder as the wind has suddenly switched from the NE to the SE and feels a lot warmer than earlier.
  20. Horrible here in MK, dark, been pouring with rain all day and in the last 10 mins we've been getting heavy rain with small hailstones mixed in. I thought it was sleet at first.
  21. 25 minutes of torrential rain, pea sized hail and house shaking pink positive CG lightning, the thunder was incredibly loud at one point, even made me take cover and close the window, moving away now though, be prepared further SE of here around Luton area for surface flooding of roads and garden areas. Forgot to mention the strong straight line wind gusts, probably hitting 55-60 mph while the hail was falling horizontally.
  22. Squall line going through MK at present, strong gusty winds, hail & the occasional flake of wet snow falling.
  23. Aye had a nice little storm or two in MK last night, was out so didn't post any update. Very gusty squall hit around 9pm with torrential rain and bright white CC lightning accompanied by loud booming thunder. Lasted about 20 mins and moved away to the east.
  24. Aye, small cell sitting to the south of MK, heard three loud booms and witnessed a very bright flash of lightning which was viewable even though there was full sunshine at the time.
  25. Been tipping it down in MK for the last 45mins, seems like a line of convergence forming, sky keeps going very dark & stormy looking, no lightning or thunder heard only a matter of time i reckon.
