  1. It's because the detector is out of sync and not calibrated correctly, all the lightning that has fired is roughly 65 to 75 miles further south and east of what it's showing.
  2. Immense thunderstorm just gone though Milton Keynes an hour & 20mins of torrential rain, hail and at one point continuous thunder and lightning, looking at the radar there are more towards Sailsbury plain heading on a direct course towards me in an hour
  3. Oh joy, I now have mist & drizzle. Total garbage. One hour of moderate rain & a few distant growls after a few rumbles & a couple of bangs earlier. Seems my earlier prediction was correct, someone in France farted and blew the storms off course again
  4. Not heard any thunder or seen any lightning since my last report, looking at the lightning plotter & intensity of rainfall this whole system is decaying rapidly, all the energy is transferring to the eastern side in the north sea. It'll end up a noisy night over in Benelux again & we'll be left with moderate rainfall or drizzle. What an earth is going on with storms in this country, they are either isolated small cells which damage a area with flooding or just fizzle out to crap & die
  5. Can hear distant growling thunder coming from the south of MK at the minute, think something good is brewing
  6. Oh big rumblings in MK, very deep thunder. It's back building
  7. Storm seems like it's moving away to the NW, upper cloud is moving due north but lower cloud layers moving from the NE to SW, keep hearing rumbles from all over the place so it seems very elevated & the rain is very sporadic also.
  8. Developing storm here in the centre of MK, heavy convective rainfall, 5 rumbles & sky growing darker all the time
  9. MCS seems to be taking a more northerly track now, going to hit landfall bang on the IOW & head north right up the spine of the country I reckon, the line of storms to the south of MCS look like hitting the SE & EA later on as the low develops and pulls them north westwards. Could be wrong & some frenchie who's eaten to much garlic farts and sends it all into the north sea instead
  10. Interesting area to the south west of Cornwall developing, I know the main area of low pressure is currently sitting of the west coast of Ireland, However is the area showing on satellite imagery that is producing a storm cluster front convergence or is there a new small low pressure developing that wasn't forecast?
  11. Have had clear blue skies here in MK since the morning storm passed at lunchtime. In the last 30 mins though i've watched fluffy cumulus grow into Tcu's then on too CuCongestus and now some are developing glaciated tops. Sky has completely filled in with cloud and the bases are growing dark. Gotta feeling it's about to kick of around London & NW of London into northants & cambs areas.
  12. Small thunderstorm rolled through MK just after 11am, heard maybe 5 rumbles and couple of louder booms. Moved off to the NE in the last hour, sky is now completely clear and the temperature is rocketing 4'c in the last hour. Hoping for a good home grown later on as the atmosphere is still potent, like walking through soup.
  13. Bugger all in MK too, nothing all night apart from a faint rumble 15miles away and lots of dramatic distant lightning. Here the sky is clearing and looks like the sun will be out soon. Oh the joy, what the hell happened last night is beyond me, MK was in a prime location, my only thought is perhaps the chilterns & aylesbury vale to the south & sw disrupted anything before it developed.
  14. **** all here in mk aswell, everything missed us this evening & overnight. So close I could see actual bolts of intra cloud lightning in the distance. Tried going to sleep but it#ss 22'c outside and 31'c in my flat, total nightmare trying to sleep, and to top it all I ran outta smokes & had to pop to the garage for a top up
  15. no rain or thunder still in MK, but the lightning from a distance is epic, every 1-2 seconds somewhere accross the sky from the se to my NW now, clear skies here and i've been able to see distant strikes crawling out from the tops of storm clouds some 50-60 miles away
  16. Can't hear any thunder in MK, but the sky is lighting up all the way from the SE to my north. Flashes now visable every 10-20 seconds, considering the storms are miles away the lightning is very bright.
  17. Possibly there is a lack of shear to be honest, these appear to be pulse storms, ie form and with no wind sheer to separate the up drafts from the down drafts collapse back on themselves due to lack of inflow.
  18. Pretty depressing really to be honest, missed the earlier storms & then cells form all around me, push away to the NE and become electrified towards the northants / cambs border. Heard 3 distant runbles & seen numerous flashes of lightning now too
  19. OMG OMG OMG, i just had an accident in my pants, I can hear thunder rumbling in the distance, sounds like it's coming my way
  20. Appears to be a cluster of cells forming a ring around MK at the minute. keep seeing what I suspect are flashes of extremely high based lightning, no rain or thunder heard though, extremely spooky outside at the minute, not a breathe of wind either
  21. Small area of very heavy precipitation popped up to the south of MK in the last 10mins, friend just messaged me to say they had 5 mins of pea sized hail falling, no thunder or lightning as of yet but possibly a new cell springing into life from nowhere. Very strange outside too, winds picked up and i can see the moon illuminating huge thundery looking clouds to my south, Can now see huge flashes of lightning firing off to the north of MK towards northampton.
  22. Ergh i give up looked good earlier, got as far as Oxford & buggered off to the north once more. Either some weird topography stop storms moving across here from the west or they get to the outskirts of MK & get lost due to all the soddin roundabouts
  23. Aye, but was there plenty of flashing before the banging? lol
  24. The storms in oxfordshire were pushing towards MK, now in the last 30mins they are heading due north, i swear i'll go mental if they only get as far as buckingham and miss MK
  25. Storms to the west must have fairly high tops, going dark in MK as they are blocking out the setting sunlight. Fingers crossed they'll hold together and last a while, certainly enough mid level cape about if they can tap into during the night time hours
