  1. Heavier in the center of MK now, flakes the size of peas just driving down hard in an increasing wind. Awesome as I wasn't expecting a lot to be honest going by the BBC and MET forecasts for our region. Maybe a dusting but not this amount, and still it falls. Has to best snowfall since the great thunder snow event of 2003 these last few days.
  2. Make sure you get it on film so we can all laugh. Can only imaging you standing over the guy shouting " No BAD!, NO GRIT YOU IDIOT!"
  3. Getting some heavier bursts of snow in MK now, moving from light to more moderate. Seems the precipitation is still pushing from SE to NW, not sure why as it was forecast to move more northwards out of the continent. Only thing I can think of it's the wind coming from a NE direction forcing the band further inland. Not complaining as have 4cm of fresh snow, looks lovely, but if the ehavier stuff does make it this far later on, then MK is going to be gridlocked come tomorrow morning.
  4. Give it a chance, it'll be snowing in Norwich by lunchtime. Moving more NW than forcast, but the heavier stuff in the east heading out of the French coast is on a path towards Suffolk / Norfolk areas. You'll end up with more snow by the end of the day than most people here. Been snowing lightly in the center of MK since 8:30 ish, now getting heavier and driving horizontally in a strengthening breeze. Must have 1.5cm on top of the esiting snow cover juding by the depth on my window sill
  5. Shrunk here as well, slightly deeper at around 6cm, but was 11.5cm yesterday evening. Think it's because the snow that fell was lightly & fluffy and contained a lot of air. Now it's settled and knitted together it's deflated
  6. Nothing showing on radar, but it's started snowing lightly in the center of MK again. Small incredibly pretty star shaped snowflakes
  7. Thought it had stopped, just stuck head out of the window after dinner and it's snowing again moderately. 11.5cm now and still rising slowly. Those folks in the East / Essex keep an eye on the area over Kent & the showers to the SE in the North Sea. Looks like they follow the direction if the wind so heading northwards towards the coast.
  8. Keep an eye on the arc area of precipitation around London, Sussex & Kent. Looks like the energy is slowly pushing slowly north eastwards, appears if it holds to be moving up into parts of EA within the next few hours, so folks who've not seen any snow may get a surprise later on.
  9. Snows falling a lot lighter here now, but still falling. A good event considering we normally miss out on really heavy snowfalls. Reading some posts in here & the London / Kent thread seems like some people are almost suicidal they haven't seen any significant snow from this front. Really! you folks in the east normally do much better for snowfall than us lot in the west of region, so really shouldn't be so negative. Sunday is looking much better for eastern areas snowfall wise, so as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait!
  10. Still snowing here in the center of MK, almost 10cm on the grass. Been snowing for 6hrs now & still coming down
  11. Larger flakes now falling in CMK, about 8mm so far in 50mins. Looks like it'll get a lot heavier towards lunchtime.
  12. Snowing like crazy here in CMK. small flakes but loads of them blowing in a gusty wind. Everything turning white quickly, if it gets heavier then we are in for a blizzard
  13. Was only out at 3:30 pm and it was dry & cold in MK, frost covering most things including trees & pavements etc. Logged on here to see others posting that it was snowing, popped head outside my flat in CMK and it's defintely snowing, only lightly with pea sized flakes, but sticking on contact to any surface.
  14. Monday 22nd of Jan, so early next week after friday / sat snow event..
  15. Snow almost stopped in MK & the sky is brighter. Think that is it to be honest, about an inch of slushy wet snow which hasn't settled on roads or pavements.
  16. Snows been very patchy on & off so far, 10mins of heavy stuff then it's been light. Think we may of missed most of it looking at the latest radar update. Is this low pressure center still forecast to build over the SE sending precipitation back inland from the east overnight? Hard to see any buckling or movement on the front at the minute tbh.
  17. Light snow since 10am in the center of MK after 1.5cm overnight. Now really getting it's act together, moderate to heavy bursts of large 20p sized flakes & sticking fast even though it's quite wet looking. Now getting flakes the size of 50p pieces. bring it on
  18. No offence to member posts in here at the moment, but from what i'm seeing again most of you are making the classic mistake of pitting a 06z gfs run against the 12z output. If I remember from past experience, and advice from the more knoweldgeable member, you need to compare 06z against the 06z & 12z against 12z runs and so forth. Otherwise it's such a dramatic switch between models outputs it's practically pointless trying to work out a pattern.
  19. Well naff all thunder wise in MK again so far. Showers keep heading towards here and dying out oddly, Cranfield down the road is showing in the NO:1 spot temp wise and it's currently 22.7'c here in the Middle of MK, so it should be releasing more SBCAPE I'd of thought, but alas not a sausage apart from a few spots of rain & light drizzle
  20. Afaik EGGW is the code for London Luton airport, so I'm guessing he'd be from Luton.
  21. Atmosphere is really starting to destabilize around here now, mid level AC is towering up still, but some areas of really dark cumulus are forming beneath and appear to be punching up through the mid level cloud base, currently storms firing to the north & northwest of MK in a line that seems to be back building with new cells forming at the SW edge.
  22. Showers now kicking off to the SW & north of MK, looks like fast development as well, poped up withing 10mins, roughly from North Oxfordshire running through Northants towards Leicestershire. Worth keeping an eye on as it's likely to be the prime location for storm development this afternoon.
  23. Sky covered by a fast moving Ac layer here now, with some areas looking quite dark, looking through any gaps you can see towering cumulus heading upwards in narrow pillars, so still looking ok if convection can get a hold and build. Currently close to 29'c here in the middle of CMK even with the cloud cover.
  24. Some quite large AC towers rapidly developing around MK at the minute in places at mid levels, south of MK the sky looks very dark, not sure if it's the outflow of storms over London area or something brewing rapidly.
