  1. Been sunny here since 9:30 am and warming up nicely now, currently it's 19.2'c in CMK. A fair bit of large cumulus bubbling up now. Not sure if we'll get some showers let alone a storm. The only event to go bang from a plume was the two male peacocks I saw on the way to Woburn fighting in someones garden yesterday afternoon
  2. Been hammering it down in CMK for three hours now, no lightning or thunder but atleast it's giving the plants and trees a nice drink.
  3. Regards to the MET warning. Still possible something electrical could kick off overnight, just down to the fact there is so much energy in the atmosphere. Not sure if the mentioned trough has caught up with the rain band yet, if not it's likely to be the factor that triggers anything electrical. Latest Infer red sat is out and shows an interesting clump of brighter returns around glucester / swindon area. Could well be some embedded cells beginning to gain height, worth keeping an eye on regardless.
  4. Agreed, it's really chaotic in here again, I can understand people getting excited if they have a storm coming, but the constant moaning and whining is enough to make even a sane man want to stuff his head in a gas oven,
  5. Sky is looking orangey because the suns getting low on the horizon now and starting to illuminate the clouds at a lower angle
  6. convective rain just started from nowhere in MK very sporadic large drops. Clouds still getting darker.
  7. Winds increased in the last 45mins and the skies gone through quite a change, from hazy cirrus to lots of mid level AcCas with some darkening bases. Looks a lot more thundery than this time yesterday evening.
  8. temp is 21.9'c Dp 14.2'c here atm, still alot of residual cloud cover from the overnight mcs in northern france. A few gaps beggining to show, where they do you can see quite a bit of Tcu forming at high level. Not much needed to get things moving other than some clearer gaps. Temps are good and the air is primed to explode.
  9. Really heavy convective rainfall here now, only just started no lightning or thunder though
  10. @Surrey. You can't post radar grabs from the Met Office website. It's under crown copyright
  11. im affraid south norfolk and most of EA are not forcast any storms. it's all towards to midlands later tonight and north of EA tommorrow. Still just keep looking at the radar anythings possible in a plume setup
  12. Aye lynxys the sat image looks very impressive in biscay, huge circular anvil showing up. Not sure if it's a single severe storm or a huge developing MCS. Worth watching though.
  13. Unless I'm mistaken the current NE direction of the storms in the channel unless changed will see them moving into CS England. the home counties and on into EA, Leaving the forecast for the west catching all the action totally wrong.
  14. Thanks Pete, been looking for a new boltek page, normally use IOW, but it's well out of calibration, plus bicesters not to far from MK
  15. Storms moved off towards Buckingham / Oxford area now, Can still hear the thunder in the distance. Sky to my East & North East is again becoming extremly dark. I think there are more storms forming in the area.
  16. Ongoing large storm in MK, formed in minutes. Large convective sporadic rainfall and bright IC and some huge CG's. Im guessing a couple were +CG they shook the building.
  17. As much as I love winter and snow, im really hoping it isn't cold enough to freeze the titties off a penguin on the 13th of Dec, I'm having all my windows replaced with new double glazing units that day
  18. Got to love the BBC, every video is see either on the internet or on the news about a thunderstorm in the UK, theres allways some loon ambling about with one of the umbrellas with a metal spiked top.
  19. OK, Who got the clouds angry again? Seriuosly though I really would not want to get hit by a 2lb hailstone travelling 125Mph+ OUCHY!!!
  20. Talk about being lucky there. I think lightning + a gas leak is a seriously bad idea
  21. More or less right under the wind convergence line at the minute. Sky keeps getting brighter then darker all the while as cloud bases move around. Wind keeps changing direction going all the way from sw to ne and back again. Getting large drops of convective rain too but only a sprinkling. Hoping it starts to kick off soon, looking forward to a storm
  22. If you look at the wind data, theres a convergence line running from the west country all the way upto the wash. It's starting to have an effect now that temps have risen sufficiently to get good convection going. This area is where we'll see the biggest storms developing through this evening and lasting into the early hours, only slowly pulling away to the SE as the low moves towards france.
  23. Estofex have now updated todays forcast, much of southern england is now under a lvl1 warning for possible tornadoes
  24. Didn't even notice it until you mention it tbh. Very odd. Little white dot appears then moves off to the right at high speed in an perfectly straight line. Seemed to leave a residual faint trail aswell behind it. Either it's a glitch in the video as it was taken on a mobile phone and something to do with the digital lens or could it actually be ball lightning? i used orbitdownloader to grab the video from youtube and watched it in slow motion. It appears to be a small bird flying accross the screen. It stands out because of the way the light is catching it against the dark stormy sky.
  25. Storms passing here now, 7 or 8 cracks of thunder and 5mins of moderate rain. On its way to Northampton now.
