gosh, you must have been one of first members? Dec 03
I think I was member 500ish. Why would you go anywhere else?
-
Oh, did I mention its snowing and settling now on all surfaces?
Not terribly cold 0.5C, dewpoint -1.2C.
Because of the wind, its actually settling right up to the back door! A smudge though. Patio is covered and given the wet earlier i'm quite surprised.I have a drift of 4 inches against the greenhouse. Shame that is not a widespread observation.

There is the justification for splitting the thread because our weather has little in common with Staffordshire!
Here in north northants, we have more in common with north cambs and leicestershire so will swap between threads. Its great through, I've been on here 10 years now!
-
Anyone from the East Mids in here? Coming down thick in this small corner of the world.
Or do I retreat into the SE/East Anglian thread for company?
-
Seems to be a feeling of dread in here, despite the event wasn't meant to get going until later in any case? Sarted here at 5pm, and unfortunately 4 hours later we don't have a lot to show for it. Am I the only one who can't finish a sentence without it moving around or diverting me to an advert? I cannot write without it shifting, or getting an advert? dog biscuits to this folks.

Not mean East facing fences?
Haha, yes what a tool.
-
Only a slushy covering on pavements here, perhaps 1-2cm on grass. 0.6C. Good drifts against west facing fences - 3-4 inches. Need the temperature to drop a bit.
-
Did sit at 1C for ages, so only settling on grass and cars etc, but now down to 0.5C in the last 20 minutes, so looking better.
-
Chucking it down with snow here but not really sticking. Grass and cars only.
-
Coming down heavy here, no sign of settling though temp 1C/dp -1.
-
Plenty of wet snow falling here. No sign of settling but early days.
-
Weather station must be pretty accurate as now it is reporting -0.2DP and we have lots of big snowflakes blowing around in the wind.
-
Still wet snow here!
-
Suprised those in Northampton and Wellingborough still reporting rain! DP has plummeted here down to 0.4C, wet snow. And i'm not in the highest part of town only 72m, southern outskirts are 104m.
-
Almost full wet snow here. DP down to 1.0C.
I would say this is going to plan?!?!
-
Well villa have won so anything can happen today
Good point.
-
Over the border in East Northants it has switched to sleet now. DP down at 1.4C, rapid drop from 2.0C less than an hour ago.
-
Blow em down the A45.
Wind is strong enough! Can see ice in the raindrops on the window now. DP down to 1.5C here, seems to be going to plan? Surely not!
-
Turning!!! Seeing some flakes mixed in now.
-
BBC weather timeline is obviously taken from the MetOffices, as they look identical to me. Shame their graphics don't reflect the same thing.

3.4c according to my NASA approved Tesco digital poultry thermometer.
Have you got an equine one as well?

3 hours for a 12 mile trip..
Here you go, these are the charts from Feb 2009 that remind me of todays rain to snow event

Didn't have the benefit of drawing in the colder dew points from the continent, extremely marginal. Those areas with existing snow cover seemed to get snow.
-
My dewpoint is down to 1.9C now from a high of 3.2C... raindrops are getting larger also. In an hour or so that means scrutinising them for the first signs of sleet!
Met office is currently showing heavy snow for Northampton at 9pm this evening to 3am tomorrow
Rushden has it from 6pm...

This is hard work tonight, probably got 2-4cm on grass, about 1cm on 'non drifted' surfaces. It is now settling fine on the roads and paths.
