  1. Great snow in Biggin Hill Temps at -3.5c so Heavy powder snow now falling 4cm maybe but its only7pm anyone else in Outer South London getting this. We are high on the North Downs at 650ft . What big Kid I am but were are only 16miles from Central London but this could be the best snow since Feb 91
  2. Fantastic snow in Biggin Hill Wonder if we are in for the 25cm as the BBC Forecast said for Kent
  3. Heavy snow then fine powder snow on the North downs Temps -3c hence the powder snow . Just started snowing heaver again.
  4. Snow getting very heavy and blowing in the wind settling on all surfaces now. <_<
  5. Heavy horizontial snow in Biggin Hill-settling and getting very dark temp just above freezing but expect that to start going down soon. <_<
  6. What a great day this may be -Watching the Nadel /Federer Aussi final. Nadel has just won the first set and then looking out of the window with fine snow falling . Temps are just below freezing and last nights frost still remains on the car. Expecting a lot of snow in Biggin Hill and I think height will make a difference if the marginal event happens and all pp will remain as snow as it has done on the Downs many times before,
  7. Hi Nick last time snow settled for week in London was Feb 91 with 20cm . In 1981 on my way to work the snow started at temps of 1 c >the Snow was so heavy in Central London that after it stopped it froze and it was below freezing for the rest of the week.
  8. Thanks for that of course what I'm really hoping for is the snow to remain as snow which is probably every ones wish -
  9. Will the North Downs do well out of this as we had 24ins of snow 87. We are about 650ft high .
  10. Im hoping that at 640ft high Biggin Hill and the Downs any pp will remain as snow, but who can tell. The North downs usually have a few more days of lying snow than the surrounding areas much lower down. If the ECM is right then we could have lying snow for some time. Fingers crossed . Nothing worse than lovely dry snow turning to rain .
  11. Yet more Rain today making up for the very dry and cold start to winter. We have had a lot of Frost even since the 10th January where unexpectedly the temps have been freezing or just below overnight , I have had to scrape unexpected ice off the car more than 5 times over the last two weeks , so this so called mild spell is nothing compared with last year - Frosts so far this winter 22 last winter 3
  12. Coldest night of the winter so far with -9.7c and a great hoar frost, which I have taken some pictures of. Max yesterday was below freezing. Looks as though will might have to wait sometime for the next cold spell. Oh well! best start to winter for years certainly the coldest for decades.
  13. The Most fantastic hoare frost I have ever seen in my 52 years. Every branch, every blade of grass covered in white frost, If only my daughter hadn't left the digital camera at school . Min temp -8c currently at -3c. Snow is still on the ground from Monday. Those wishing for milder weather, well its coming, along with wind, rain and temps of 8c, very dull and boring.
  14. Osborne some fantastic pictures and some of them would look great on Christmas cards. Just wish the snow would head to the Valley (Home of Charlton) so our game against Forest could be postponed, as I expect us to be well and truly tonked on Saturday and our fate will be sealed.
  15. Fantastic photos looks almost like Sweden or Finland with snow and frost stuck to the trees-Some of the best on Net-Weather.
  16. What a fantastic morning in Biggin Hill ( I live about 650ft on the Downs andt its quite rural, also in a slight dip and sheltered) Min temp of -7.5c and still -5.1c as I type. Clear blue skys and the air seems so clean and crisp . Yesterday struggled to get above freezing and today it may not at all although the sun seems stronger than yesterday. What a great cold spell all we need is a bit of snow.
  17. Almost a freezing day today with a maximum of 0.2c from a low of -6.8c now -3.8c if clear skys continue in Kent then I predict a low of -9c somewhere in the South, Biggin Hill may well be -7.5c thats my prediction. Great day today clear and frosty all day in the shade.
  18. A light covering of snow at Biggin Hill, Kent and and it looks a bit like a Christmas Card scene with all the trees covered and white lovely -Temp at 7.35am is -1.5c
  19. Most of Kent has seen very little snow from all this marginal weather even on the Downs there has been very little settling snow. Oh well maybe before Christmas. Dream on.
  20. Me Jealous-never -If only the torrential rain had been snow we would have had 10ins in Biggin Hill this morning. Very snow starved in Kent so unlike my mother-in-law in lives in Hutton Cranswick. Great Pics.
  21. Cold overnight with min of -4c We have had more frosts this Autumn than the last two winters put together. If only this weather front coming in would shift a bit more South. On the Downs over 600ft it could have stayed as snow -has been known to happen many a time in the good old days. Still waiting for some real snow although I have seen wet snow twice so far this Autumn. .
  22. Hi MeteoMadrid Fantastic photos-is the snowy weather normal for November- if so what is January and February like?. Enjoy the snow and send some our way please.
  23. I can just about remember 62/63 and living in Uxbridge Middx the snow was a foot deep what seemed like forever . New years eve 1978 will always stay in my mind as I took the dog for a walk after coming back from a party and the wind made the snow horizontal and it was unbelievably cold. For the South East for a short time, January 1987 was and still is one of the coldest spells ever recording and temperatures were colder than at any time during 62/63. It snowed almost constantly for 4 days with what seemed like storm force winds-making level snow of 2ft into 20ft drifts. Biggin Hill 19 miles from Central London was cut off and buses were buried under the drifts. I would like to experience that again in my life time along with February 1991 where for the first time I can remember snow lay 8ins deep for a few days even in the City of London - dream on
  24. Biggin Hill earlier this morning-still snowing but slowing -1c about 4 to 5ins best this winter/spring
  25. Heavy snow in my back garden taken an hour ago still coming down fast and now at least 3" . Just dropped my daughter to work and Biggin Hill high street looks snow bound for the first time this year.
