  1. The latest NAE is still bringing it over our region this evening with some really heavy falls!
  2. Guys, the main event is coming from Ireland - don't panic! The band that is starting to affect us now is just the introduction. Karyo
  3. Good to see the GFS coming on board and upgrading the snow event for our region! All we have to do now is sit and wait. No anxious waiting this time because the band is dynamic and is organised and it is coming from the west so there is nothing to brake it up! Karyo
  4. It seems that I will manage a frost tonight, at long last! Skies are clear and my temperature is 0.5c
  5. People in the office started talking about tomorrow's snow and the weather warnings. Many of them say they will leave early or work from home! Here we go again...
  6. This doesn't look good apart from high ground! What are you on about? The band of precipitation is not likely to reach us before midday at the earliest and then who gets snow and who gets rain is up in the air.
  7. They will and if they go with the NAE there will be some amber warnings issued (possibly for areas such as the Pennines and Yorkshire). If they go with the GFS, they will reduce the areas under yellow warning.
  8. The huge difference between GFS and NAE continues in their 6z output. NAE continues to look promising for snow for the whole region but the GFS has rain with a bit of snow on the Pennines. Even if the NAE gets it right, it is going to be a snow to rain event but obviously the best option out of the two and it will be nice to see heavy snow falling for a change. Karyo
  9. Yes, it looks very impressive! The GFS is much less promising with some western areas seeing rain/sleet and the snow mainly for elevated areas and the east. Karyo
  10. Snow but I doubt low lying areas can see any settling. I would love to see some frost for a change but another cloudy night is likely here. Karyo
  11. The little bit of snow that I have on my balcony is melting as we speak. It did very well to survive the days sunshine but it is melting in the night - unbelievable!
  12. I can't believe I am experiencing another frost free night here! Current temperature is 2.9c Karyo
  13. It looks like another day of watching the radar. I just hope he have a clear night tonight to freeze the ground properly and then tomorrow even light snow can stick. The problem for Manchester over the last few days has been the lack of subzero temperatures not so much the shortage of precipitation. Even last night I remained cloudy with a minimum temperature of 1.5c Karyo
  14. Snow is expected to affect tomorrow morning the Midlands and East Wales. NAE has this moving slowly northwards as it weakens to affect much of our region tomorrow evening and overnight. Only light by then but still something to keep an eye on. This has been an amazing cold spell for the midlands!
  15. Patches here and there. I was pleasantly surprised to find some snow still left in my balcony when I returned from work and it should survive now till the end of the cold spell. I just want clear nights now with impressive minimas but it's not happening tonight.
  16. Totally cloudy here and the temperature currently at 1.3c It's likely to be another disappointing night temperature wise.
  17. Do you think the skies will clear tonight? I have total cloud cover and the satellite pic doesn't show any breaks at the moment.
  18. It is disappointing that we can't get low enough temperatures to avoid a thaw in January!
  19. I'd go anywhere for snow! lol Thick fine snow falling here now. I've noticed there is a band of line snow in the north midlands and northeast Wales. May move over the southern parts of our region later.
  20. As much as I love going to the Pennines for walks, I hate them for damaging such set ups. I sometimes wish they were 100 miles further west! lol Karyo
  21. Most of the snowcover has now gone here about from patches in the nearby park. Some light grainy snow is still falling but obviously not settling. Karyo
  22. I am at work now, by Alexandra park . There was about a cm of snow on the ground earlier but it is melting quite fast. That's the problem when you don't have enough depth on the ground, it goes very easily. I cannot see the snow coming back from the west. None of the models are showing this. The Isle of Man will be the best place for continuous snow this afternoon.
  23. Yet, the bbc forecasts shows 1c maximum for today. They are so wrong with the temperatures, it's not even laughable!
