  1. BBC going for streamers from midlands south and one Edinburgh / Borders for tonight... Just scattered showers here. But you never know what can develop....
  2. This is now similar to the start of the 1991 easterly...exactly 30 years back. Light / moderate graupel lasting a full day before convection picked up and streamers started.... Most of the East got a foot of snow or more. Longframlington got 46cm from 7th-9th feb.
  3. They might be right so far.... but these set ups are notoriously difficult to predict snowfall. Especially from convective showers. Thats why radar/lamppost is the way to go
  4. Snow level is not only dependent in height asl, but also distance from coast. The stronger the wind the greater distance inland the warning effect....this is why temps stabilised, despite cold air feed.....now-10 uppers heading in, which will eliminate marginally for everyone. And of course...produce convection....
  5. -10 uppers not forecast till after midnight.... the wind is having a warming nearby the coast. Was at wbay earlier...violent sea with huge waves
  6. Been a while since I have been on here. Been busy. A few comments to kick off with This is coinciding with the 30th anniversary start of the 1991 easterly. Happy birthday !!! I recall that spell started with a very dry flow from a massive scandi high. Snow started as very light for a day before any showers built up. This time its very different far more moisture from the start During the 2018 spell, along the 10mile (or more) coastal strip, most of the showers blew over quickly then developed inland where they gave prolonged spells of snow. This was not the case in 1991 and I hope its not going to be this time either Precipitation charts are showing streamers developing out in the N. Sea. Lets hope they do and you are under one!!! ENJOY!!!!
  7. Apart from a few more showers in the south of the region, thats it for a very short NE blast. Still waiting for one with a deeper cold source. Looks like at least a week of Atlantic weather coming up. Could the N.Sea snow machine get fired up again before winter is out........
