  1. Just as the rain comes to an end, my temp goes down to 0.8 with a dewpoint of -0.5, cold enough for snow It's just going to be a skating rink by the morning now as this will all freeze. What a let-down yet again.
  2. Argh - heavy rain here. Temp still 3.5 although dewpoint is now at 0.0. Hope for some evaporative cooling before the precipation goes as I think we've probably only got about half an hour of it. Can't believe it's warmer than our failed attempt earlier on in the week.
  3. It's missing me by about 30 miles so far. Hope it takes on a more southerly movement soon as should get a lovely stream of showers if so. Looks Like Nottingham and Derby are getting a good dumping.
  4. Happy New Year everyone - hope it's a snowy January for us all (or those with working boilers :-) Have a brilliant year all of you - 2009's been not that great so let's hope that 2010 is a fantastic one!!!
  5. Have you got 'Home Emergency' cover on your household insurance - I know we called out someone out on ours when our boiler packed up earlier in the year. They fixed the problem and there was no charge (frozen condensate in the pipe going out to the drain). Might be worth a look, see whether you've got it and can get it fixed on your policy instead - there's not usually an excess on Home Emergency cover as well.
  6. I've got temp of 1.6 and dewpoint of 0.5 so a tiny bit warmer than this time yesterday, so I'm pretty resigned to rain unless the showers really beef up in intensity. No big let down for me this evening, I'm pessimistic to begin with. Anyone seem Ollie Williams on Family Guy - "It's gorn rain!"
  7. Gah, I'm trying so hard not to whinge or moan but if I don't have a nice covering of white in the morning, there's going to be some serious soddin' foot stamping from me. I want snow godammit! Sorry folks - back to cheery stuff, got that out now! Good luck for serious snow for everyone else
  8. Nightmare - just the coldest, bitterest rain out there at the moment. I pity anyone who's out in it, it's brutal. Looks like Northants might just be luckiest out of the Midlanders from this event - the radar looks really intense for them. Hope to have some great snow pics on here soon.
  9. Nice one Serendipity - at long last eh! T'was the Strongbow that did it! Crack one open Andy - it'll get to you any minute!!!! Still moving north on the radar at the mo - don't know when it's going to stall but it's not just yet.
  10. Be nice to have a draw there - brilliant to see Birmingham top of the form league and 7th in the prem (nosebleed time). Sleeting here but nice temps & dewpoints - both below zero now.
  11. Yep that's me - never lived in Leicester though - just the odd visit to Richer Sounds and getting lost on your ring road - there's a nice South Indian 'Keralan' restaurant there that I want to visit there though http://www.kayalrestaurant.com/ - anyone been?
  12. I've had a drop in temp to 1.1 as well - the dewpoint has just hit the magical 0.0 - still rain at the moment though, not a flake yet but soon maybe!
  13. Grumpy old Midlanders - that's us  The 'nearly but not quite' for us so far this winter. We'll party the hardest when it does eventually arrive though
  14. I've got temp of 1.8 and dewpoint of 0.3 now so it should be more borderline once the heavier stuff comes in, I hope!!!! Still 100% rain at the moment though. P.S. Are any of the Stokies getting any snow - it's been heavy there for a good while?
  15. bliddy hell - it's intensified as soon as it's got north of me again. What's a gal gotta do to get some snow - argh!!!!
  16. Temp 2.1 and dewpoint 0.4 here and I've got light rain. Unless this beefs up a bit, I think that's going to be it
  17. It's quite weird - I've put the radar on animation for the past two hours and the precipitation never gets any closer, the line is about 10 miles south of me and it all fizzles out, then it reappears about 20 miles north - a true snow shield stretching from Lichfield to Leicester. Here's our 4 hour accumulation radar - nothing for us at all. This had better change later - I'm going to be so annoyed if it does the same thing tonight.
  18. I've got a temp of +2.8 and dewpoint of +0.5. Needs to drop just a bit here before it'll be snow I reckon - it feels bitter in that wind though. Mind you, haven't had a drop of rain all day here, fair bit all around us but nothing at all here, very strange! Hope that doesn't happen with the second front.
  19. Not even had any rain here - it fizzled out just before us and beefed up again north of us - grrrrrrrr! Have a feeling this is going to be a terrible letdown.
  20. I've got -0.8 temp and -1.5 dewpoint from my weather station at the mo so still looking okay for me - Atherstone's just a little bit downhill though isn't it. Just been out for a ciggie and it's darned cold and foggy! If the fog keeps up, that should keep the temp down for the morning, shouldn't it?
  21. I know, I know, but my official postcode is Polesworth, Tamworth, Staffs even though we come under North Warks borough council. Tell you what, Warks is so much better, we have our bins collected every week instead of every fortnight, I live on an estate and I have a gritter van come down my personal little road every night - Warks Council are ace! It's a cool place and quite elevated too - not that that's seeming to make a difference on the snow front. I will have snow tomorrow, I will!!!!!
  22. Oh god, I've been counting down to this day and don't you just know it's gonna get as far north as Birmingham and then just fizzle out and drop again. Our one chance to get some blummin snow when everyone else has had buckets of the stuff over the past fortnight. I'm working tomorrow (only work 5 minutes away) and I'm going to be radar watching all day. Hope you all enjoy your drinks and your radar watching tonight - will be back on in the morning, peeking between my fingers at the radar just in case it's all gone to pot. Going to bed with everything crossed!!!!
  23. Looking at the radar, is there a slightly more NNW movement? Wonder if we'll get a share of those really beefy showers coming up from below Oxford?
