And just like that it's gone
I'm not sure whether that's just a coincidence, but I can't tell you how happy I am...
Great work if so!

Don't know what to expect later this evening. The radar at the moment is not very encouraging, but looking at the latest UKv, some of the showers do appear to pack a little bit more punch as the evening hours draw on.
As you can see from this video, the showers.. at least on this side of the channel fall apart quite quickly.... Hoping for something a little bit more impressive later on

Yes..
Driving home from Ferndown, all I could see was Two very nice towers!
Just getting ready to go out with the camera, With a 76% gibbous moon, it should make for some nice pictures, if we get some nice gaps between systems and hardly a breath of wind

Incredible rain out there.
Have you seen anything electrical coming from this squall line?

Last one from me..
No lightning worth mentioning for this neck of the woods, but it was nice to get out with the camera, and to put on winter clothing for the first time as we approach winter
Very seasonal

Well I think it's finally time to call it quits. It's cold and I have a very soggy feet!
It's been a pretty interesting day. Unfortunately I was at work when the main bulk of the storminess passed over this afternoon.
Typical, but that's just the way it goes I guess..
I wouldn't be surprised of a few more cells popped up pretty much anywhere, and who knows, this might not be the end. Plenty of mild South Westerly weather to come if the latest models are to be believed.
If We can keep this going. This will go down as probably the best storm season I can remember

Still out an about just in case any of these storms take off
This is what is is heading towards Portsmouth, I haven't seen anything electrical from this area, but I did see a solitary flash to the southwest of the Isle of wight, about 10 minutes ago. Nothing since
I have a feeling that we have seen the peak of today's action, especially west of the IOW

I think about 1am-ish
More on Wednesday evening too!
Fingers crossed it will calm down a little, once the wind swings round from the north
It's fair to say that this is caught me a little bit off guard. My back garden is an absolute state

You know it's rough when the letterbox starts flapping
Do you think you've reached the peak for your area?
Must not be far off it.

It's absolutely insane here in Christchurch!
Wasn't expecting anything like this to be honest, I'm worried my patio door are going to be blown in

It looks biblical out there, but no lightning or thunder here on the Ferndown industrial estate

As of 19:25 this is the state of play..
I believe this morning's convective weather forecast mentioned that storms firing over northern France may inhibit chances for the far south of England/Channel area
This might be the case looking at the current radar, I have still put the camera on charge though.. just in case

How tall is that monument? I'd guess 30 foot. Obviously it's on an exposed hill (482 ft) so it's likely much more prone to lightning.
I wonder how they test the lightning conductor?
I don't know if it's true, but I'm sure I read somewhere that lightning conductors are more of a preventative measures against lightning, as they prevent electrical charge from building up in the immediate vicinity, helping any charge drain to earth
But I'm sure it must help if a structure is hit directly.
On another note, plenty of interesting cloudscapes down here on the south coast...looks likely it will end up being just rain

Also don't beat yourself up about lens choice.... it's rare you get the exact composition you would prefer, especially when it comes to lightning
Of all the pictures I've taken of lightning, only one in particular springs to mind that filled my framing.. with no cropping
Thanks for sharing!

Nice
How are you making these timelapses?
I shoot them with the Canon eos R
There is a separate mode in the video settings, it's actually stills, you can manually set the exposure, or let the camera decide, it then creates the movie file as a time lapse once finished. It's not as good as doing it the old-fashioned way as you lose a lot of control over how you can edit the stills before creating the time lapse in another program.
I'm not that patient when it comes to technology so this works a treat for me. Hope that helps

Nice to see that the atmosphere still has some treats hidden within it...
I decided to pop down to one of my local beauty spots, hoping to capture to lightning/time lapse
After waiting for a while with no lightning, i thought I'd call it quits, no sooner after I packed up, you guessed it.... Lightning
Not totally waisted though

Looks like a good Kent clipper in the making taking shape now.
I still think anywhere could get something in the next 12 hours, I didn't expect anything today, and I ended up with one of the best storms I've seen I a while

Just been treated to a pretty decent storm..
I have some footage as well but it will have to wait ... UKv has heavy showers forming in southern areas as the evening draws on.. but it might be a similar situation as last night, so I won't be getting too excited
On another note, was in the phone to Nodrog, it sounds like he's had a very productive afternoon, which included him almost getting struck by lightning! Should be an interesting watch when he finally manages to upload to YouTube

That sounds about right.
Looking at the current radar there are some lively showers out in the channel...
I was out this morning taking photographs and with some lovely towers out to sea
