Trouble is it isn't cold enough. Snow has melted that I had
All a wet mess now.
But the colder air will be dragged in later, don't judge it as it is now :-)

But it wasn't supposed to start until around 11pm onwards. This is the first part, the rest will happen later :-)

Ohhh! heavy snow burst here, starting to go white over :-)

So anoying isnt it. I remember living in bedworth a fey years back and south coventry, bulkington, north nuneaton and corley all had 3in of snow and bedworth and north coventry got nothing. Heavy snow here atm tho.
Funny, no-one on here actually believed that when I told them :-/

Warm sector creeping across the Midlands, the warm air should be pushed back southwestwards in a while though, so most will turn back to snow.

This area gets no snow normally between the A5 in nuneaton to Warwick there seems to be no snowwhete either side gets it lol. Hopefully some tonight
I hope so matey, we're in the worst place after the west country for snow, we always miss out by 10 miles or so ALWAYS!

Moderate snow in Bedworth too, settling on paths and grass, but not roads and roofs, as yet

The precipitation is due to pivot back westwards somewhat later, so don't worry too much.

On carols latest forecast she mentioned bham being quite high so bodes well
It's all the failed snow attempts, it's enough to drive anyone to drugs :-D

Well, let's see what kind of cruel tease the models will invent over the next few days ay?
We still have the coldest month to go and I believe that we will have given up completely only for something magical to appear at short notice.
There are no records of two winters on the trot having zero lying snow, that fact at least, is in our favour.
-
It's been snowing lightly here for an hour now, nothing settling but snowing non the less :-D

Just picking up on the model thread on what S Murr is forecasting for Weds.....my interpretation
BLUE = is forecast SNOW zone..... RED= sweet spot.
I'll take it with a huge pinch of grit-salt, there is a curse upon the Midlands that we shall have to watch countries such as South Africa, Morocco and Saudi Arabia, getting more snow than us, whilst we flitter the hours away watching fronts fizzle out before arriving, or the dew points being too high for snow.
It's so frustrating! :-(

Well after all that it's rain here, not even sleet :-(
-
I'm standing on a big hill in the park.
I'll video it in case it's the only snow we get this year lol.

Just goes to show that precipitation can crop up st the most unexpected times.
I wonder whether that blob over wales will come this way?
-
I think it's looking rather good for next week, and at least there's a trend for the cold spell not to come to an end by late next week.
It feeling like a slow burner to me, like Jan' 2013, and we actually had an amazing snow event, which cropped up from nowhere and gave me a foot of snow which wasn't even forecast.
So never give up hope, precipitation in this sort of set up is impossible to tie down to location, it will fall wherever it feel like.
As for the band moving south now, as thought, it's starting to fizzle out and won't be anymore than a band of annoying cloud which will stop the temperatures from dropping, therefore preventing an early frost.
But as I said........you never know! :-D

Can we expect from the snow in the north later today? Or is it going to die like everything else?
I'd expect it to die tbh, it has the whole length of the Pennines to traverse before reaching us, that usually sucks all the moisture out of it.
Best not to expect any snow at all I find, we're so unlucky here :-(
But on a brighter note, the next seven days are showing up some pretty severe frosts for our patch, even a couple of days where it dips to -8'c , which, if we by some freak of nature, happen to get a covering of snow, would allow temperatures to easily dip below -10'c.
So, there will be some nice frosts about, not sure if they'd be hoar frosts as I've not seen the humidity and dew points forecast.
Although we missed all the snow back in 2009/10 , we had some epic hoar frosts, which covered the trees and bushes with over an inch of frost, and that looked just like snow it was so thick over everything.
I think that if nature won't let us have snow, could she at least let us have some amazing hoar frosts please? :-D
I'll dig some photos out later to let you see what I meant :-)

As I always say. "Missed by 10 miles".
*rolls eyes*
-
Well, not a single flake here either, but am I downhearted....no! It takes more than 3 failed snow events to put a downer on my winter. If you think back to 2009/10, we had a round 8 chances to get snow here and missed all of them by as little as 10 miles.
Missed this snow by 10 miles incidentally :-D
-
I would rather snow that melt than no snow at all
I am the opposite, I need my snow to be 'safe snow' :-D
-
So, if it does snow tonight, won't it melt tomorrow with temps of 4'c?
I need snow that sticks for at least 2 days, anything else just makes me mourn for what could have been, I so hate that 'drip drip' :-(
-
Just like I said a couple of days ago, the weather is finding more and more imaginative ways to avoid snow over this part of the Midlands.
Although we had a soft hail shower earlier.....maybe that could count as this year's snow?

Right, who's coming down to the bookies with me to bet on this year having no days with lying snow lasting more than 1 day?
We cannot lose!! We have the upper hand and will make a fortune :-D
