  1. Taken directly over my head in Rochester, about an hour ago. Looking unstable!
  2. You're eyes are good, then. It's forecast to pep up as the system arrives on south coast.
  3. It's a measure of how much heat and moisture is in the air.
  4. It looks like the Eastern component of this shortwave comes to life as it arrives on the South coast; a case in point is the IoW
  5. There are some clouds to my due south that look like as if they include early stage mammatus to their western edge. Anyone in Maidstone?
  6. You're best bet is tomorrow, I reckon, especially after dawn
  7. It already is. If you try to bisect the old strikes along with the new ones you can see the hint of an eastward shift. Here's the (not pointing at Rochester) centre of the storm track based on what we can see right now. This is the storm, mind, (so centre of the lightning) not necessarily the centre of the rain.
  8. Yes, in that respect, we really need more northward movement before it slides east.
  9. At this stage the game's still on for everybody. We'll know more about the Midlands, the East, and the South East at around 7pm (ie comparing reality to what the models forecast)
  10. You can buy 1" hail from Walmart? Why aren't they selling it at Asda?
  11. The shortwave is due to travel almost due North and then slide East. This could be the critical factor as to who and when anyone sees any thunderstorms regarding the timing of the start of the slide East. I'm still rather hopeful, to be honest, although this early detritus could do with holding off for a bit longer, and keep those temps up high.
  12. To be fair, the forecast has always gone for a bit CIN for the far SE (Heathrow) However, this is imported stuff, and all the forecasts are for elevated storms where the CIN may not be relevant.
  13. Yes, we're desperate for some good rain, here. Suspect torrential rain will just run off the surface, and we really need about a week of that grotty fine stuff for the garden
  14. For all those in North Kent ... I know how you're feeling ....
