  1. I wish I could definately say were cooling. Having said that, this summer is turning out to be only slightly above normal and other than april 2007 summer last year was normal at best in yorkshire. Also last year did anyone notice the leaves turning yellow early. Horse chestnut leaves started yellowing in the first week of september, I found that totaly amazing! reduced solar energy prehaps!???? does anyone know????? any links on this?
  2. I hope your so wrong about a possible big melt like last year. If you are wrong and we hold on to loads more ice than last year, I for one won't be a smart ass about it, I'll buy you a pint!
  3. Theres just one word in summing up here, IF!. Lets face it (at the risk of sounding like a GW / AGW naysayer) it seems like the world is on one big mild ramp. No one really knows the outcome 50 years down the line be it global temps rising 9 deg c or the dawn of the next supposidly (typo!!) well overdue ice age. As before, time will tell and I'll tell you now, as much as I really miss snowy cold winters I would go for the 9 deg c rise anytime. The sudden dawning of the next ice age would be a far bigger threat to us homosaphians than a modest warming surely.
  4. Ok maybe not in brum but My earlier prediction looks likley now, somewhere in the south east.
  5. I hate to say this but............. I totally agree with you pit. IF there is truith in that "extra warmth" is been falsley added to keep up funding, surley sooner or later it will all end in tears!
  6. Birmingham, 28.1C!! Thursday or friday
  7. I think you will find that this is the proposed budget for NEXT YEAR 2009, not this years budgets. I'll try and dig out the article for ya, can't remember where I saw it, bare with me..........
  8. No doubt NASA would say "theres been only a slight cooling this decade" if the artic ice sheet extended to the shores of northern scotland. I have nothing more to say
  9. Hmm, Funny they should say that. I wonder if their say so had anything to do with the fact they recently recieved an extra $3 billion US dollars for climate change research. For crying out loud, wake up people!!
  10. I'm recieving reports that comet homes has exploded, my dad rung me after watching the news today. Can anyone comfirm this?
  11. Fairly high up, I'm at J38 M1 if this means owt to anyone. 2 miles from Tarn centre
  12. I agree. The problem I have is wether It's day or night my temp readings are always at least a clear 1C lower than the "experts" readings, and sometimes much more!. I have a verity of single bulb mercury thermometers and 15 of those oregon scientific white 30 sec pulse electric thermometer sensors 433Mhz, all vary no more than + - 0.2C on each other. I record in the same place all the time IN THE SHADE with no screens or boxes at an elevation of 2.5 meters. I've felt for a while that the met office and various tv forecasts always over do their max temps, Not very scientific I know!
  13. Still a stunning post  As I thaught, some hostile responses, "I'm fed up with nonsense like this" We all have our varied opinions, this will help us all learn, evolve and get the hell of this planet!
  14. Stunning post I've just never had the nerve or patience to put it like you white xmas, for fear of the whole GW bickering that goes on here! I think you are spot on in your post and, The basic molecular weight theroy and all but no dbout someone will be prepared to argue against your post.
  15. Well said The media are the biggest rampers of all and I think they have a lot to awnser for. I remember a couple of years ago in the daily mail (I think) the headline was "HUMANS TO BE WIPED OFF THE PLANET BY AIDS BY 2035" Another fine exsample of lacking gumption by the evil media!
  16. Even If it said, this winter is looking to be an unpresidented 7 C below average, I would treat it with the same level of caution. The smallest variation on any given situation can have wide variations on the weather in this country, E.g a high pressure just 100 miles out of position dertimaineing (typo ) between mild and a minus 14 frost!! The likes of la Ninia etc can still have un predicted small changes without warning, swaying one weather type on the other side of the world to another. I think it would be wise, certanly here in the U.K to go through our winters on a more Hand to mouth basis rather than get upset when some longer range forecast doesn't quite go to plan!
  17. Sorry to be a sour macaroon n all that but that winter forecast is the biggest pile of basic pin the tail on the donkey I've ever seen! Yes I know It's hard, if not impossible to forecast out this far but C'mon... seriously, my cat could have come up with that. I seriously think that no one really knows what the coming three months hold especially with the events of this summer and all. It's still september and all a little far away to be even giving a basic guess on the forthcoming winters conditions. At least the daily liar.... Oops, I mean daily express have a better go than that even if it is all a phat phantasy! Rant over
  18. If the oxygen levels on earth were 80% we would die within 30 seconds if that. This level of oxygen is devestatingly toxic to mammals. For pete's sake mods HEEEEELP Chassis

  20. Typical Wednesday fan, Are you sure your not a Blade!!
  21. Evening all, Hope your all good. I'm just back from 2 weeks skiing holiday in Canada and I'ts nice to see that the uk may be finally heading for some decent snow. As for canada, well I didnt think the air could get so cold. It has been my first time to north america and certainly the coldest temps ive ever experienced, I was like a little kid on the plane as the captain announced (Good morning we will be landing at Ottawa in 30 mins, The weather is clear and the temperature is MINUS 34C!) As for here at home I think it will even snow in Carlisle this week
