Snowing up on the Cat & Fiddle no surprises there and it is settling now too.

That would be the same storm that hit Barnsley we (Sheffield United) were playing them at oakwell Billy Sharp scored the winner and sent us all mad I was bang at the front and ended up on the pitch My memory of that game was the storm that came from nowhere and literally blanketed everything you could not see the other end of the ground at one point. If there is footage of the end of that game it will show how bad it was the drive home seemed to take eternity luckily it hit Barnsley late in the match had that been in the first half I think the game would have been abandoned it was that bad. The drive back through Sheffield was absolute bedlam to say the least from what I can remember of it. I remember an epic Snowfall during my childhood in the 90s in May in Sheffield cant remember what year it was though all I remember was how heavy and deep the snow was. The heaviest unexpected large snowfall was later November into December 2010 when we had over 2ft of snow by recollection we was forecast around 5cm and ended up with close to 70cm of snow it was truly an epic snowstorm that is once or twice in a lifetime event for many never seen snow like that it just kept coming down and if my memory serves me right we were slap bang under a constant stream of showers that acted like lake effect snow would in America coming off the Great lakes it was a really narrow band of snow and where I was in North East Derbyshire we were slap bang in the middle of it.

There was a few big events in my childhood in the early 90s rain to snow events dont remember the exact years but Sheffield got big dumps of snow.

To put it into context they have had more rain than parts of the South East get in a year

Down to 17c now was 27c at one point the other week.

Was wondering when this thread would appear the countdown to winter is officially on.

Could see the tops of them storms from the hills in the west of Sheffield absolutely huge they were.

Had 2 days with storms now.

Just had two big flashes here in Eckington thunder is getting louder too.

Was just to the east towards the M1 lit up the room.

Huge bolts of lightning and booming Thunder in Eckington Derbyshire.

Thought I heard it in Eckington

Gives us hope here in Derbyshire then it has been vile here.

What a change from yesterday nothing worse than dark grey weather..

Was supposed to be 25c here today instead it has been far cooler by about 13c was 30 odd yesterday. Soon as i saw the low cloud this morning knew it was gonna be game over for storms same old.

I have videos of it flashing away over that way.

Can see the lightning over to the west been strikes over Dronfield Coal Aston and South and West side of sheffield can head thunder in the distance too.

Something definitely building at the back of these storms can see more lightning to my south west over chesterfield and out over the hills.

Think there is more chance of me running down my road naked than me seeing a storm here near Chesterfield the storms seem to be going everywhere else bar here

Be a miracle if we see anything storms look to be going east and west and forming everywhere bar here
