  3. Shuggee, don't you just love these news reporters? I suppose she was expecting shuttle to in down tail down and what? Flip over in the final two minutes.........? Lovely.
  4. OK. It's late. And as a 'sometimes' trader I would short this - depending on the timescale. This is going South - long term. Andy
  5. Hey mate, Sounds like you are really getting dumped on. I see floods in mid-west are causing lots of grief. Get the bailing buckets out and good luck. Andy
  6. RJ You live in a stunningly beautiful part of the world. Great pix. Thanks
  7. It does not "fly"(in space), nor does it "flew upside down and backwards whilst re-entering the atmosphere." It is positioned in space with the tail pointing toward the ground and going backwards so that when it does it's re-entry burn it tilts over so that it then points forward. This is for the very technical reason, quite similar to modern day aircraft, so that the pilots - who are at the front of the aircraft(the pointy end - same as the shuttle you may have noticed?!)can see where they are going. This is very helpful during landing - 'seeing' where you are going. I don't know what planes you guys have been on, but have you ever known the pilots at the back and upside down......perleeeease. Andy
  8. Shuttle re-entry burn about to begin in about 15 mins. Listen and watch live here. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html

  11. As they are saying right now at the conference, there could be times when a hurricane would affect a landing of the SST. In this case they are coming home Tuesday when they have, I believe, two windows to get into Florida - a morning landing and an afternoon landing. The later landing would bring them in directly over H Dean but about 180,000 feet above it before a landing onto runway 15. Failing that for any reason they have Edwards in California, which is and won't be affected by H Dean or a third place which also won't. Hope that helps.

  13. Are we all tuned in to...... http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html ....for the next run over H Dean in five minutes or so. Right click on image and go 'Full view'
  14. They did mention that the next pass would be further to the west and have more 'oblique views of the eye.' In about one hours time so don't forget to tune in then people.
  15. What a bummer....we lost the link to ISS. Repeating it again in about 5 mins. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html
  16. Check this guys. ISS and shuttle are going right over Dean in 6 minutes........ ...live here...... http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html Go For It! Now!

  18. Hey Cal. I found this link only last week and, as you say, it it is compulsive 'must-see' viewing. Really fascinating. Looks like shuttle might be back early.
  19. That was beautiful and I just caught it as it approached Dean. I saw it go past last Sat and Sun evenings - ISS that is - and it was quite a site. Very bright. Ain't gonna see that again soon with this weather...... If any of you missed the fly-by of Hurricane Dean and the ISS, it's on again about 1815.

  21. Yes. It looks like a large aircraft coming in to land with runway lights blazing but no flashing lights. It's quite awesome and looks very large - I suppose being the largest man-made object up there it would. Shuttle is still attached to it. Anyway, it passed over West to East on both Saturday and Sunday evening. You can find the times for Leeds here. Great site to bookmark if you're interested in space flight. Only saw two Perseids. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sight...&city=Leeds Good Luck Andy
