Morning All. Lovely bright but cloudy morning here. Saw ISS go over last night about 2140. Very bright and clearly visible in cloudless skies. Caught one little Perseid heading due north about 2245 - bright orange flash. Hope for clear skies tonight. Good Luck Andy

25° here and not a cloud around. Breezy wind though. Buzzed by helicopters as the foot and mouth farm is only a mile down the road.

Even all the lawns I do down here are lush and green this summer. I do feed them well though and all the rain has greened them up nicely. The trick is to get rid of the moss in Spring and/or Autumn and reseed patchy bits then feed and water throughout the summer. Best year for grass for ages Andy

Would anyone please explain the following. If I am taking readings daily of the local weather, should I set the barometer to Relative - which is the sea level setting - or Absolute, which is the reading from the station itself? There seems to be quite a difference. Eg when I check Farnborough TAFs and METARs they are obviously using QNH which is sea level and not QNH field elevation. I may, of course, be wrong. Any ideas chaps and chapesses? Regards Andy
