Sorry didn't realise when I made the first comment that there were so many chapters! (didn't see the chaper 6 bit on the title )
Thankyou for bringing back so many memories! I too grew up in Kent in the 80's. "Hoddle and Waddle" I'd completely forgotton.
BMX's and cold, cold winters. Those were the days!
Well done on a truly excellent blog. I've been glued to it for 1/2 hour.

Good sentiments there, I've always been one for working effectively rather than going for long hours and as a production manager it was allways my goal to achieve the desired results from my team in the allotted hours rather than work overtime. It costs more to pay overtime after all. In that situation the pressure is on and you have to find ways of working 'leaner' to enable a higher output when hours are limited.
The problems arise from those who are payed a fixed salary, regardless of the hours worked. In those situations, workload dictates the hours rather than the other way round.
The key, like you stated, is to change the mindset of those people who's hours are not fixed. So that they see themselves as producers rather than doers.
It is something which I am working on now, I'm working on exercises which enable people to track their productivity through the day, regardless of what they are doing. It's tricky but it can be done, it's amazing to see how much time you can make up in your day when you do just a bit of analysis and then plan accordingly.

Very, very well done. If I had a pat on the back smiley I would have awarded it to you and Joe. But I don't so you will have to make do with these...

That is more of insomnia thinking than it is pub talk!!
Spot on thinking though!

Maybe a light box would help? My job used to involve me working in a glasshouse, lots of natural light available. Since Nov I've been stuck in an office so I think thatis why it's worse this year.
I shall go and seach on 't'internet for one. Maybe it will come in handy for next year cos as Flaggy says, not long till spring!

Of course you do!! who else am I gonna get to strip at my party!!
My stripping days are behind me I'm afraid. However I can juggle.

I think I need a beach.
Well you can borrow mine Wibs but please don't feed the Roos as it encourages them to beg. Oh and theres some cold beer in the lagoon if you want it just pull on the string hanging on the old tree stump.

Ahha, a fellow poker player! I play only live games (no internet) The occasional cash game when I'm feeling flush but mainly I play in a poker pub league, we play for points, amount of points depends on finishing position and how many people play. It's a good laugh and most importantly no money lost!
Anyway, welcome to netweather.

Thankyou everyone, I will carry on regardless with joy in my heart.

Thanks, as long as I'm amusing you Lady Penelope, that's all that matters! Trouble is getting a "1" put me in a bad mood and now everyone who works for me thinks they have entered the seventh layer of Hell.
I'm off now to win back their hearts and minds with ice cream.
A Rule Of Thumb…

I reckon I've got 9 1/2 chopper (pardon the pun) rides left. 18 if I count my toes.
