  1. Has anyone got a link to historical versions of this chart below. Specifially the last few years or so? Much obliged!
  2. Saw a great large rotating cell this morning, well I say rotating,it looked like cloud racing across a storm front moving from left to right and curving in front of me in a large ark. Hope that makes sense, hopefully pic attached, poor quality as taken on my phone. Location, Princes parade on hythe seafront.
  3. I believe it's a dis-trail. http://cloudappreciationsociety.org/distrails-june-07/
  4. Colud be woodworm, is it a woodfarme window or is it set into wood? If so close inspection should reveal tiny little holes, about 1-2 mm across. Used to get similar on all our window ledges but that was a very old house. I think we treated it ourselves with a can of insecticide but more severe infestations will need a pro. Could be caterpillar though so what you are doing with the plant seems sensible.
  5. Good morning all. Been up half the night with the baby, I've put my back out lifting her in and out of her cot and now it's raining. eurgggh how very, very depressing!
  6. Just heard a distant rumble, stepped outside just before the rain hit and it was strangely quiet, no wind!
  7. Good point that, in these cash strapped times couincils are likely to be less prepared rather than more prepared for harsh conditions. What we can do as individuals is be more prepared to tackle snow and ice on a private level. I'm old enough (just) to remember the days when comunities helped each other out and dug snow off the minor roads so that peole could get to the larger roads. Also a stock pile of salt, tins in the larder, good tyres on the car and a shovel in the boot go a long way to keeping us all mobile and safe. EDIT- Oh and for God's sake slow down when driving in ice and snow, better still, stay indoors with a drink! !
  8. Just drizzly murk here in the far SE, Sat shows some gaps in the cloud further west so hopefully we can shift this rubbish and get some convection later. Edit sun just broken through now! C'mon storms!!
  9. No, it's rubbish! There's loads of stuff she can't do, washing up, cooking, hoovering, changing tyres, juggling. The list is endless! If you want something chewed, dribbled on or generally soiled in some way though.... Back on topic and still looks lively across the channel, hopefully things can intensify a little after dark as per forecast. Wondering if fish and chips by the seaside tonight is a good idea or just a potential washout?
  10. Hopefully I can target something fairly local and nip out to intercept if the timing's right. Not fair on the little'un to drag her out for miles and miles!
  11. Anyone ever stormchased with a 14 month old baby? I'm seriously tempted tomorrow but I'm not sure she is up to the job of operating the NW radar on the iphone and taking photos out the window? That blob out in the channel looks better by the minute, liking the covection and sferics showing behind and below the front.
  12. Stuff the Olympics! I'm hosting a BBQ for 80 people on Saturday! Looking like a washout at the moment...
  13. Meanwhile in the hot, humid and silent SE I've been wondering where all the convection is in France? All that CAPE and nothing to show for it, then I saw what's happened in Rouen in the last hour...
  14. Took a punt and headed off on a bit of a chase today. Started out at noon at Wye downs which offers a good panorama and headed off towards Romney Marsh as it looked like something was building over the channel. Ended up adriving from Dymchurch towards Littestone where I parked up and watched a lovely storm dropping numerous Cg's out over the water.
  15. What's all this? I go away for a day and come back to find possible French imports! Now I only got 4 hours sleep last night because of a poorly baby, I have a huge amount of driving to do tomorrow and now I have to spend all night watching the bloody radar!
  16. Got my eye on a storm mid channel, due south of Dungeness. looks fairly beefy, well isolated too, strongly thinking a trip to Dover may be required as it's going to miss me here. Mind you by the time I finish work it will already be there! These showers are moving at fair old pace!
  17. Latest radar shows rapid intensification just north of Chelmsford...
  18. Beans for lunch? Still time for something here in the far SE, Frustratingly we've been stuck in a relatively dry slot here in Ashford since the front passed, but as I speak I can see something on Radar bubbling up around Rye. The sun keeps popping out so you never know I may get something yet!
