Everything posted by Azores Hi

  1. He's referring to flood risk/ storm surge not cold and indeed the comparisons are quite stark.
  2. Classic streamer effect off the north sea into Kent and parts of Essex today, if only temperatures were 5 degrees colder I'd be under a good few inches of snow right now!
  3. Hi there. Great thread, I'm glued daily to the development of this volcano and I thank all those who have contributed so far. Quick question, does anyone have a link to charts which show the SO2 anomoly in the the northern hemisphere following this eruption? Ta
  4. Looks very unstable out there looking towards the south coast. Anvils moving one way, showers moving at right angles to the anvil so some good vorticity to tap into I would guess. As nick said in his forecast, be on high alert for funnels if you are east of IOW on the south coast, going out there myself for a look see!
  5. WArning!!! BIG Hail on the leading edge, thought a freight train was going through the house!
  6. Caught what I think was a brief funnel as the storm approached this evening, think it's more of a gustnado but still nice to see! would be interested to see what others think. I'll try and get a few more shots uploaded but my computer is being very slow. Stupendous motion on the leading edge of this storm.
  7. Yep I'm here too, getting quite annoying now! Especially as my hotel doesn't serve breakfast until 6:30!
  8. Well, first set of storms to cross the channel have weakened considerably leaving just a damp squib in East Kent as far as I can tell. Hopefully that doesn't set the scene for the rest of them following on behind!
  9. Kent Clipper on the cards? Looks knife edge right now.
  10. Nice cluster of really powerfull storms just forming around Le Harve. Kent in the firing line? http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur
  11. Big hail here on the ground at Bracknell. 5p size! Watching the cell shooting up now from behind it. Definite seperation of up/downdraft. Sirens going off. Awesome!!
  12. Big anvil right now from the coast all the way over Ashford and off towards the north. Shower itself appears to be dying off quickly though.
  13. So good to see the yanks back, do you think we will see more from them?
  14. HI Jo what particular lightning is that? Edit- sorry just looked at the site and I've messed my pants...
  15. It's absolutely chucking it down in Ashford now. With little let up in sight it doesn't look good. I'm not on a flood plain but garden is filling up! There is just nowhere for the water to go. Not good...
  16. Be of no doubt, if this storm hits as predicted and we have inland gusts in excess of 60 mph there will be trees felled. Older weaker trees will be weeded out. Trees weakened by previous storms may go. Full leaf and wet ground makes this almost a certainty. The question is, how many will go?
  17. I feel sorry for the wasps. If you look into their life cycle, at the beginning of the year they catch lots of insects and feed these to the young larvae in the nest. In return the larvae secrete a sugary solution which fuels the adults flight. As the summer comes to an end the queen stops laying eggs and as a consequence there are fewer and fewer larvae in the nest and the adult worker wasps run out of their reward sugar. That is why they pester anything which can replace this craving! They still p*** me off though! Lol
