  1. It stopped here a while ago but I think in total it was about 20 hours of continuous snowfall, (never thought I'd get to say that) I stopped measuring at 28cm because although still snowing heavily it wasn't getting any deeper, guessing it was compacting with weight. Been out for a wander, there's a bit of a thaw going on here but the sun is going down and it's forecast to freeze, doubt it will thaw very much. Took some pics, forgive all the tree ones, I'm ever so slightly obsessed with snow covered trees. Went to the old church across the fields (used in Poldark) had to take a pic of Scott's memorial in the snow - just think, the snow starved fool went all the way to the south pole to get his snow fix.
  2. Remember Gibby? He's just posted on his FB page that it'll be at least a couple more hours before it stops here.https://www.facebook.com/Kilmersdonweather/?__tn__=kC-R&eid=ARDjt2OpYmLR1lnihrXbwZ8us_TRGyJcqIPjB5CiOFvDPy6bJLPLOB_9ORk4cmxXUC4jihk2NTHeq5z4&hc_ref=ARR7E9NNVyeBdLNs46XlJW_WYDg-OUUBGHcSWE23D_KVr7Dy8-cxgef3aKYdJam9YFw&fref=nf&__xts__[0]=68.ARDiS9VTO0OzTeMG0796q9BCwh2FUapFE4MCts7ZE9j-vJ3JF3AtsugSFwbR0V7OEEkF4SKwMj-kbHlEvc1D6bHjiNK35PryiObSjHyaKmulgO3PnIYgqH43I6KGVJwjSwYo5IEGxZarq8Hzq-9SwHsC1PC1nxSsk5mp37MIXEXi6BjUGv0nh-Ux-XGDgH6VOmA4FIWBd8cEtuKaQToDsS4LiLalzRsskd3ifGn0ZcoHH6drc3iO3T3v4bszYFF4Rf-50FEnkGZB2Hu4lYAsYYVRszHFPly7-4Hcn8-DVoWlukyH8fYqw_NOfN2DC81EcY6hlGwBaveRAlCly_GJ4l7Jf1UawnZCc24jGCRdm8YmjkFoFiEGtQ
  3. Doesn't show any signs of letting up yet. Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.
  4. I'm stunned by this. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd get a repeat of February 2009, but we have. Will venture out with camera in a bit.
  5. And it's still going! Now 25cm on the table, garden groaning under the weight and the winds blowing great big chunks around.
  6. This really is the gift that keeps on giving, no sign of it letting up. Longing to go for a wander and take some pics but don't want to ruin the pristine cover, want to wait just to see how deep it gets. Yeah I know, I'm sad.
  7. And don't I know it. When it snows around here, we Mendip dwellers usually strike lucky
  8. Lol. Girly here and although I'm not usually one to get involved with blokes measurements.....we do have close on 9 inches now. Still snowing heavily too.
  9. It certainly is. I'll venture out later but at the mo it's heavy snow and very windy, I'll struggle to get any decent pics so will wait a bit. Stuck my head out the back door, it's now 22cm on the table, the hump behind the level snow is the buried ashtray.
  10. 21cm and counting, (level measurement on the table) still coming down well.
  11. Funniest sight of the morning so far....neighbour across the road is out with his leaf blower, blowing the snow off his drive. It's still snowing and it's windy, the snow he's blowing is billowing up over his shoulder and falling behind him.
  12. I really wouldn't bother. No idea what the main roads are like, reports of jack knifed lorries and stuck/abandoned cars.
  13. Morning all, just a couple of pics (will get out and take more later) we have 19cms level snow in the garden and it's still snowing well! Exceeded all my expectations. We're sooooooo lucky!
  14. Just stuck my head out the back door and took this. Level measurement on the table is 13.5cm and it's still snowing, not forecast to stop anytime soon
  15. Taking son home and found someone had buildt a bloody great big snowman right in the middle of the road, just round a blind bend. I'm an excited idiot when it comes to snow, but that's just bloody stupid and dangerous. I duly demolished it with my tank and squished it flat.
  16. I doubt my boss is happy but she's far too nice to say. She's in London, I'm on dog duty, but the cleaner is going to have to do it instead. Now she won't be happy but she can walk it in 15ins, she's just down the road, I'm 17 miles away and 450 foot higher up. Folk often don't get that it's a different world up here when it comes to snow.
  17. Agreed, can see off most depths of snow but it's a bugger to stop the thing, weight and forward momentum coupled with ice isn't great. Fun sometimes though. I sometimes dream of ABS...
  18. Snap. Just told boss I won't be in tomorrow, can't see it happening with that lot on top of what we already have.
  19. Just checked METO forecast (updated at 11pm) it has me down for another 9 hours of heavy snow, followed by light snow all day tomorrow. I guess that answers my question of 'is it due to peter out soon'. Apparently not. If it's right, this will beat the beast from last year.
  20. We're past 10cm here already and still it keeps coming. Got a Landy, it will chug through the snow but not a lot of good if the road's blocked with cars. Still slides though, took son home and had an interesting moment or two, sheet ice hiding under the snow.
  21. You've been out and about (carnage here, cars abandoned all over the place) what are my chances of getting to Bristol in the morning?
  22. Evening all, far too many pages to catch up with so can someone please save me trawling through looking for info...….how much longer is this supposed to continue? Still lots to come or petering out soon? We've got a good 4 inches here, it's still coming down thick and fast, windy and drifting. Just done a mercy mission taking my son home and it's sheet ice beneath the snow, really very slippery! I'm supposed to be going to work tomorrow, really need to be there but I'm wondering if I'll make it - cars abandoned/stuck all over the place even on main roads that have been gritted.
  23. The only real uncertainty seemed to be how far north it will get. I think totals are impossible to predict, (even at this stage) but it looks like continuing for quite some time. yet.
  24. The graphics on Points West showed the snow to the east being pushed north/north west as the evening progresses, bringing quite a lot in our direction. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen...
