  1. Evening all, far too many pages to catch up with so can someone please save me trawling through looking for info...….how much longer is this supposed to continue? Still lots to come or petering out soon? We've got a good 4 inches here, it's still coming down thick and fast, windy and drifting. Just done a mercy mission taking my son home and it's sheet ice beneath the snow, really very slippery! I'm supposed to be going to work tomorrow, really need to be there but I'm wondering if I'll make it - cars abandoned/stuck all over the place even on main roads that have been gritted.
  2. The only real uncertainty seemed to be how far north it will get. I think totals are impossible to predict, (even at this stage) but it looks like continuing for quite some time. yet.
  3. The graphics on Points West showed the snow to the east being pushed north/north west as the evening progresses, bringing quite a lot in our direction. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen...
  4. Got a guru in Glastonbury to cast a spell back in the summer, asked for him to reverse the polarity of the wretched thing, seems it's worked
  5. I don't think you've got anything to worry about. The METO have been updating their forecast hourly, all that's changing is the timing, not whether or not it will snow. You will get snow, how much remains to be seen, but you will get some.
  6. Ooo.no thanks. My world's a happy place, have no intention of entering the real world, tried it once, got bored.
  7. They say I'm too old To take joy in the cold In maturity I must grow But I say 'who cares' My inner child bares An insatiable love of snow I wait watch and pray That they're right today And magic will fall from the sky Because if it's wet And not snow that we get My poor inner child will cry
  8. How accurate are those usually? That's quite an increase in predicted snowfall for here.
  9. Love it at the Lizard, especially the clifftop walk to Kynance, hoping to buy a house down there next year. If anyone's down there, can highly recommend the Wavecrest café, it's down by the lifeboat station.
  10. Temps dropping here and wind picking up. Smells like it's going to snow, before you all think I'm barking, trust me, snowy air smells different. You office dwellers probably don't notice such things, but us outsiders do.
  11. Is that a bit like thundersnow but with potential to be longer lasting? Or am I just full of wishful thinking?
  12. What does that mean in terms of weather expected, good or bad thing?
  13. I'm at work where there's a sunken terrace that really holds onto frost. Very tempted to put the sprinkler on slow, see if it's cold enough to freeze it into a decent ice rink
  14. Morning all, sharpest frost of the winter here -5 with a dewpoint of -7, nothing marginal about those figures. Everything is white and sparkly here, just needs a good coating of snow to top it off, fingers crossed. Still got the Christmas trees that stood either side of my door, they're waiting to be burnt but haven't shed a needle, sorely tempted to reinstate them for the weekend just to see what a white Christmas would have looked like
  15. But what does it mean for weather on the ground? I haven't a clue what all those squiggles mean, please can you translate the charts into a weather forecast?
  16. Soppy old sod It's a genuine offer and it applies to anyone on here, if you get stuck around these parts, I'm happy to help.
  17. Forgive the idiot question here.....is that showing accumulated snow up to 9pm tomorrow? If so, if the METO are right, there's quite a few more hours of falling snow to come after that.
  18. Queen Charlton, just outside Keynsham (where I work) had loads too. The drifts on the journey to work took a good couple of weeks to completely melt.
  19. Not much good now after the event but if you ever find yourself in a similar dilemma again, me and my trusty old Landy are in the Mendips - just send me a message on here, happy to ferry folk about.
