  1. Scotrail have cancelled ALL train between 6pm tonight and 10am tomorrow!
  2. This band which is moving towards central belt and die west looks absolutely potent! Will be interesting to see how this all pans out but looking like it will live up to the warnings for once ?
  3. I’m thinking many of us will be home bound tomorrow as well. Luckily I was off today anyway but I don’t fancy a commute to Edinburgh in this!
  4. Just stared here again now. Snow is falling off the trees like dust, such powdery snow. -3c here and I estimate there must be around 4-6 inches at the moment. To think this isn’t even the main event for here yet and there’s potentially another 15-20cm plus yet to come! Also it’s that cold here, there are 4 inch icicles hanging from above the front door. Dare I say it but this feels a little like 09/10 ?
  5. I wonder if that front to the north of Scotland will make it all the way down this way...
  6. Water under the bridge, like I said I know it was in jest.
  7. Let's not make mountains out of molehills people!
  8. I presume the person that closed the first bridge would look a right Richard if it comes to nothing
  9. I'm not sure if that's Scottish, or Lanarkshire!
  10. These attempts at reverse psychology on the weather, despite your best efforts, will not bear any fruit As always, it's near impossible to accurately forecast this kind of weather. Think back 7 years just before Christmas time, who would have thought that weather front would have stalled right across the whole of central Scotland and given over a foot of snow for some! Just enjoy the prospect, it's certainly better than anything we've even had a sniff of in the last couple of years. Furthermore, the models are suggesting a more prolonged period of cold and with that some more shots at the elusive snowflakes; so to summarise it's quite a good time for cold/snow lovers if we put it in context with the last couple of years.
  11. I commute daily between Glasgow and Edinburgh, I wonder what the journey will be like via train tomorrow and Friday? Hopefully there won't be much disruption on the lines. Imagine having to be put up in a hotel for the night, the horror seriously though, does anyone else share the same concern?
  12. Blowing a gale here, 9c and absolutely bucketing it down with rain. Lovely. You wouldnt think a cold snap was lurking.
  13. And that's very true mate. The best forecast for snow is if I turn up on the forum, I'm sure here's some science in there somewhere
  14. Ah yes I remember you moved there. Kilmalcolm seems a distant memory for both of us now! I was in the borders last year so I do feel you pain (I jest)
  15. All good here sir! Yourself? And what dark side would this be?

  17. Nice to see some of you familiar faces again after a little while since being on here. Models looking rather promising for the rest of the week I must say. Here's hoping there's no backtracking at the final hour! Anything akin to 2010 would be more than welcome in my books. Usually once Metoffice start reporting on it and the warnings come out that signals the death knell
  18. Oh quit your moaning, you'll be fine. It could be worse; you could stay in central London

  20. Hi everyone thought I'd drop in given the recent snow! Happy New Year too! Is it just me or does anyone else think there is some real potential with the front moving in from the west given the considerably colder air that it is to hit in the new few hours? Falling as rain in Northern Ireland but their air is much milder. It will very interesting to say the least and my journey to work in Stirling in the morning could be very interesting! Stay safe on the roads everyone and to those who stay up lamppost watching, enjoy hopefully!
