  1. OK here goes: January 1987 0.8C (Just beating January 1985) Cold and snowy February 1991 1.5C (Just beating February 1985) Cold and snowy March 1987 4.1C Cold with some snow April 1989 6.6C Cold with notable snow event on 5th May 2005 11.4C Average overall but warm start and short heatwave towards end of month June 2003 16.1C Very warm and dry July 2003 17.6C Very warm and dry but not too hot August 1995 19.3C Hot and dry. Very good weather for holidays in UK September 1995 13.7C A welcome relief after a long hot dry Summer October 1995 12.9C A very pleasant month indeed November 1993 4.6C Cold and frosty with some snow after mid-month December 1981 0.3C A fantastic month! Probably won't see another like it Don
  2. I don't think it will be far off the mark!
  3. Very dull and humid down here. Not pleasant!
  4. There were similarities to the Summer of 1994 and the Winter of 1994/95, although last Summer and Winter were warmer versions of those! I feel it's a bit early to say at this stage what my thoughts are for this coming Summer. One thing I am confident about it being is somewhat warmer than average. I will give a few more thoughts on it next month, all for a bit fun though!
  5. It's certainly gonna be a close call for a record this month! Odds on I say.
  6. I don't think that the CET should be scrapped, I think it's good the way it is. However, what I don't understand is why the Met Office are still comparing temperatures to the 1961-90 average and not the 1971-2000 when we are in 2007! Surely they should be using the latter by now.
  7. Here comes the warmest April on record?!
  8. 13.7C. Continuing the recent trend!
  9. 14.7? I agree, it is a little worrying. I also think that it's too early at the moment to say that the warming has stepped up a gear, but the signs aren't good IMO (if you don't like warming that is).
  10. Yes I agree. Dan is a good forecaster but my present favoourite too has to be Rob!
  11. Whilst I agree that 11C is very feasible, I have a feeling that although this coming Summer will be warmer than average, I don't think it will be as warm as last year. Given that I feel that this year could have an overall CET similar to that of last year at around 10.8C. Very close to a record breaker and very warm but not quite making it.
  12. I totally agree with this, we need to lose these warm September's to get even a close to average Winter IMO. If this coming September is another warm one with heatwaves, then the writing is on the wall for Winter 2007/08 - mild to very mild!
  13. I imagine that March was another warm month globally. I also think it would be a good idea to change the thread title.
  14. Well I gave the 1st half of the winter a big fat zero :o However, 2 snow falls with one giving a substantial albeit brief cover (Feb 8th) was enough to push the overall score up to 2/10. The biggest suprise was the fact that I had the most snow since the Winter of 1990/91! I would never have thought that possible in such a mild Winter. Infact looking at the figures on paper, I wouldn't have expected to see a single flake. Lets hope next year is an improvement at least in terms of temperature and more prolonged cold spells.
  15. Lets have Spring first! Summer can wait till June.
  16. OK, I'm going for an April CET of 8.5C!
  17. Nowt here since brief heavy snow shower yesterday afternoon.
  18. Had a short sharp snow shower in Weybridge this afternoon at about 4ish. Didn't settle though.
  19. More of the same then....... Will we get an average temperature month this year, let alone a below average one?
  20. Yes, quite a remarkable 12 months!
  21. The Met Office actually predicted the possibility of a colder than average Winter for southern UK, but for milder than average temperatures for northern and western parts for 2005/06 and this is exactly how it panned out. The Met Office Winter forecast for 2005/06 was infact very accurate. Don
  22. Very, very poor Winter. Although in terms of snow fall there have been a fair few worse. However, the lying snow melted so quickly it hardly counted for anything! One thing I did find interesting about the Winter was that although it was nearly record breakingly mild, the continued trend for increased snowfall seemed to continue, as it wasn't as snowless (in my area anyway) as Winters 1997/98, 1998/99 or 1999/00 etc. Still looks pretty grim for future Winters.
  23. I'm going for a Hadley CET of 5.9 for February.
