  1. Oh, if only....... Now, if that chart was for tomorrow, I really would be rather excited. However, being 13 days away it pretty much means nothing , apart from very nice eye candy!
  2. Winter 2002/03 was slightly above the 71-00 average overall December 2002 CET 5.7 (+0.6) January 2003 CET 4.5 (+0.3) February 2003 CET 3.9 (-0.3)
  3. Thanks for that, Paul  No shortage of interest there, that's for sure. My feeling is that we 'could' get more of a snowy spell between Christmas and New Year, before a milder regime takes place in early January.
  4. Some great photos of a Winter wonderland. I'd be more than happy with that amount of snow at some point this Winter. I think it may be wishfull thinking though, even though things are rather different so far!
  5. April 6th 2008 here. Didn't measure the actual snow depth but I would say it was around an inch and a half thick, so not bad! Had pretty much all gone by mid-afternoon. Prior to this, the last lying snow was April 5th 1989, which gave about 3 inches and most was still on the ground at the end of the day. A lot melted during the following night, though.
  6. Certainly a fun day for some and certainly some impressive snow depths. Am quite envious! Needless to say, nothing but heavy rain down here over night. It's now quite sunny and fairly mild. Typically, it's milder than they forecast.
  7. Yes, I remember that and if I remember correctly, the Met Office talked about the possibility of a very cold spell of weather in their 14 day outlook for late January. The cold spell that did arrive in mid-late February 2005 was impressive for its persistance, but wasn't overly cold due to as you say a relatively mild continent. However, for my location, it did produce more snow than at anytime during the following colder Winter!
  8. Wow. Absolutely awesome photographs there. Certainly the place to be!
  9. My feeling is that December will be below average, but not massively so. I'm going for a CET of 4.5C
  10. Thanks Paul. I certainly won't be complaining if that comes off!
  11. Well, what I've seen of the video so far, great. Sound and picture quality fine and very informative. However, like with others on here it keeps stopping after about 3 minutes! Maybe something to do with my internet connection .... I will keep trying.
  12. Not a bad forecast IMO and an improvement on last months. All eyes on December it would seem.
  13. Brilliant photos there. Here's too a Winter that delivers the goods to all of us this year! B)
  14. Saw this earlier. Doesn't make a good reading to say the least for cold weather enthusiasts, does it?! We will see......
  15. Excellent photos there. Lets hope to see plenty more of the white stuff over the coming months!
  16. Excellent pictures, Rusty. Some impressive waves there!
  17. I remember the south and south west having a snowfall on the 18th December 1999. I believe the snow was 4 inches deep in places, although nothing like that in my area. It stuck around for a couple of days. This was certainly the only snow I saw during Winter 1999/00!
  18. I think that Winter 1991/92 was one of those rare ones where I didn't see a single flake of snow. Very disappointing, especially after the previous Winter! I also remember the first half of December being particularly cold and frosty with some ice days, but dry. I thought at the time that this was the start of a decent Winter only for it to turn very mild during the second half of the month, with January and February being totally non descript.
  19. Oh dear... Not looking good. Still early days mind.
  20. Seen very few of these so far, except there's one buzzing around the room as I type!
  21. That would be pretty much my prediction for their forecast too!
  22. OK, I am going to go for an August CET of 16.7C.
