  1. Some photos from this morning before the thaw set in! A couple more Not bad for April!
  2. Some great pics Was certainly suprised to wake up to so much snow this morning. Almost all gone now. Will try to post a few photos later.
  3. No more snow down here today, after a few moderate/heavy falls during Sunday and Monday, but little in the way of settling Still nice to see though.
  4. Ok, here's my estimate; 9.1C Somewhat colder than last year
  5. Have had a few moderate sleet and snow showers this afternoon. Not much in the way of settling but hoping for more later!
  6. Certainly a chill in the air today, but brightening up nicely now.
  7. Ok, my CET estimate for March is 6.8C. A cool start with a mild second half. B)
  8. Excellent pics, Nick. I particularly like the frosty photos.
  9. Well, I think this could be one of those Winter's where I don't see one flake of snow The last time this happened was back in Winter 2001/02.
  10. Only had a couple of slight frosts this month.
  11. Have seen daffs starting to sprout this last week! Feeling springlike today.
  12. Looking like my estimate will be way off for January. I think we'll be looking at mid 6's at the moment.
  13. I would say the 'real' even larger teapot began in February 1997. From 1987 to this point, cold seasons although few and far between did occur, but we've had nothing of the sort since then.
  14. OK, my CET punt for January 2008. I'm going for a generally mild month with a couple of cold snaps. My final punt is; 4.8C
  15. 2007 an interesting year weatherwise IMO. :o January very mild and wet but with notable snowfall early on the 24th. February another mild month but with significant but shortlived snowfall on the 8th. March another generally mild month but with northerly outbreak on the weekend of the 17th, although didn't see any snow here. April the most 'summery' month of 2007 with lots of sunshine, warmth and a distinct lack of rain. Also the last month of 2007 to have an overall CET significantly above average. May rather average overall but notably cold and wet during weekend of the 26th. June warmer than average overall with a warm first half, but cooler and unsettled second half with significant rainfall. July a washout and rather cool, with very few dry and warm days. August close to average, but cool and unsettled after a hot start. Last 10 days of month more settled and rather warm in south west, but very cool and wet in eastern areas until last 5 days. September rather warm first half turning much cooler after mid-month but dry overall with temperatures close to average. Much more seasonal than recent years, particularly last year. October another close to average month but very dry with some warm spells. November another dry month with temperatures again not far from average. Notable warm start to month. Generally more frosty than recent Novembers. December after a very mild and wet start, 10 day cold and settled spell with frequent frosts and some low maximas. Very seasonal. Mild and wet Christmas period with temps falling back towards average by month end. An average overall CET looking likely. What will 2008 bring? Will the exceptional warmth return, or will we see the cooler treand continue?
  16. Oh well, fog's lifted and temperatures are on the rise. Hello mild weather!
  17. I've seen reports on daffodills sprouting already, too, although I haven't seen any myself. It's very strange and I don't remember daffodills this early last year. After the exceptional Summer and Autumn, plus the very mild December we had, I wouldn't have been that suprised. However, we haven't had anything like that this year. I know we had a warm start to December, but I wouldn't have thought that it would have had that much of an impact. Surely the soil temperatures this time last year would have been higher than what they are now?
  18. A bit early, but I think January 'may' be the most interesting month of Winter this year. Will give my CET estimate next week.
  19. Hmm, it might be a case come the end of the month that I should have stuck to my original thoughts of December coming in below average and not going above at the last minute. Still, plenty of time to go yet and I agree that we will most likely to see an average CET of about 5-5.2C.
  20. Hopefully, we will get at least a couple of wintry outbreaks throughout January and February. Although I very much doubt we'll get anything sustained. I have a feeling that February maybe generally mild and wet this year.
  21. Yes, we could be looking at the overall December CET finishing in the low to mid 5's. So possibly yet another month not too far away from the 1971-00 average. Much better than this time last year and earlier this year!
  22. Ooh, yuck! No offence, but I hope you'll be at least 1.5C too high! I have read your December forecast and I have to say it makes a pretty grim read.
  23. Right. After having a hunch for some time that this December would be colder than average, after the last few days with what the models have shown, I no longer think this will be the case However, I still feel that there's a good chance of seeing the winteriest spell of Winter later on in the month, but this won't be enough to counteract the mild first half. My final estimate is a rather miserable 6.0C.
  24. No, it hasn't been a particularly good week for Winter prospects has it? What with the updated Met Office forecast still predicting a mild Winter with established La Nina conditions likely to last all the way through Winter.
  25. Unfortunately, realistically that's the best you can really do with LRF's at this current time. You can only really go with probabilities hence things like "is more likely" or "is less likely" I think it wil be some years if ever when we will have powerful enough computer models to predict seasons with high detail.
