  1. I so hope you're right about September!
  2. I was in Cornwall when Boscastle flooded about 20 miles down the coast near Newquay. Amazingly the weather there was fine. Infact I was on the beach at the time! That said it was a pretty rainy two weeks in Cornwall we just happened to miss that Particular storm.
  3. The Met Office Winter 2007/08 NAO forecast should be due out sometime in the next few weeks shouldn't it?
  4. The month when I'm away in Cornwall for two weeks would have to be wouldn't it! Much like last year infact.
  5. The trouble with these promising signs is that we always see them every year and when it comes to the crunch Winter tends to end up being a damp squib. Always interesting to see though. Things will be far clearer come the end of September.
  6. I think a CET between 15 & 16C is quite a safe bet at the moment, pretty similar to Junes of recent years.
  7. Although I've never been, I've always liked the sound of Canada's climate i.e hot in Summer, cold and snowy in Winter. Have always wanted and will visit one day, hopefully sooner rather than later.
  8. Well, who would have thought that Heathrow would record its 2nd coldest May day on record in 2007? After so many records falling during the last year for warmth, amazing indeed! Just a pity it wasn't the coldest day on record really. Perhaps we'll get some record cold days later in the year like in December! I should the think the May CET will end up at 12. Colder than expected but still above average.
  9. Certainly very close to the Spring record and the 4th season in a row to be exceptionally above average! How long will it continue?
  10. I hope it's not that warm, although it wouldn't suprise me that much I have to say!
  11. I'm going for a June CET of 15.7C.
  12. The Met Office Winter NAO forecast is normally out around mid June I think.
  13. I would love an 1995 like August and September. A hot August great, but a hot September is a big no no!
  14. Well done Ian, a good forecast. I also like the new format. I think it's better that seasonal forecasts are updated regularly.
  15. I agree that this May has felt rather cool which is amazing when it has actually been a fair bit above average so far. We are getting so used to warmer weather now. Just imagine how cold a May 1996 would feel today and that was only 11 years ago! Unbelievable.
  16. Interesting stuff! IMO we need like in 1993 to see a run of below average months for a better chance of a colder Winter, although Winter 1993/94 in the south at least was fairly average.
  17. I seem to remember August 1993 being a fairly dry and pleasent month overall, although obviously not particularly warm. If I remember correctly, there were some record cold nights during the last week.
  18. Yes, a very interesting year was 1993. That very cold November certainly stands out in my memory. Any chance of 2007 going the same way after a warm June? Extremely unlikely IMO but would be nice and you never know!
  19. Yep another warm September and October will lead to another write off Winter I'm afraid. Lets hope that all this relentless warmth we're having now will start to ease by late Summer.
  20. Out of all the warm months we've had during the last year, I think this April could turn out to be the most exceptional of the lot. It just feels so Summery!
  21. OK here goes: January 1987 0.8C (Just beating January 1985) Cold and snowy February 1991 1.5C (Just beating February 1985) Cold and snowy March 1987 4.1C Cold with some snow April 1989 6.6C Cold with notable snow event on 5th May 2005 11.4C Average overall but warm start and short heatwave towards end of month June 2003 16.1C Very warm and dry July 2003 17.6C Very warm and dry but not too hot August 1995 19.3C Hot and dry. Very good weather for holidays in UK September 1995 13.7C A welcome relief after a long hot dry Summer October 1995 12.9C A very pleasant month indeed November 1993 4.6C Cold and frosty with some snow after mid-month December 1981 0.3C A fantastic month! Probably won't see another like it Don
  22. I don't think it will be far off the mark!
  23. Very dull and humid down here. Not pleasant!
  24. There were similarities to the Summer of 1994 and the Winter of 1994/95, although last Summer and Winter were warmer versions of those! I feel it's a bit early to say at this stage what my thoughts are for this coming Summer. One thing I am confident about it being is somewhat warmer than average. I will give a few more thoughts on it next month, all for a bit fun though!
