Can't go a single day without being reminded that it's november. I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of how the calendar works.

How is it looking for us coldies? Usually I can browse through the mod thread and get a pretty good idea how things are going but I am clueless this evening.
There seems to be mix of opinions but am I right in saying we're looking at a 2-3 day cold snap with rain/sleet at lower levels in the south?

Just for fun, this chart won't verify but according to the 06z GFS Op, the West Country is the place to be next week;
Man this chart is such a teaser, must learn to not get hopes up

Those forecasts from the MetO in November 2010 seem well under-estimated to what actually happened at the end of the month. Not criticising the MetO, I just love how unpredictable the weather can be at times. Some of the best snow events I can remember were either under-estimated or completely unexpected.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what the charts were showing for December 2010 a month beforehand?

That's the most obvious statement I've read for about 30 years..My point is that everyone who has an orgasm at the sight of a snowflake should take a little time out to tihink of the folks who are suffering in these conditions.
Ok, I took a little time out to think of the folks who are suffering in these conditions, and so far it has achieved nothing.

I'm sure the Red Cross are as well struggling to get patients to hospital.
Unfortunately you're on a forum full of snow lovers
I'm glad you're out helping the people who are struggling with this weather, and not sat on a weather forum because that would be ironic

I'm glad we had decent snow on Friday because tonight would have been a massive disappointment otherwise. I have about 1-2cm of slushy mess in garden from tonight, but it could have been an epic event if it was colder.
Hope we have another decent snow event in February

Hate being a debby downer, but I can't see this amounting to much (IMBY anyway) I've had a good hour of heavy snow, and there's still only a dusting on the grass (looks about 0.5cm) Going by the Radar we've seen the heaviest of it aswell. There's just too much water content, it's really slushy.
Still nice to see heavy snow falling though
-
It's snowing heavier than it did on Friday, real chunky flakes and coming down hard. But seems to have a hard time settling.
-
Wet snow and not settling at all, hope this changes

light snow south bristol

If it keeps that same intensity, this is gonna be a fun few hours of heavy snow.
-
its actally starting to expand in size now
It's crazy how localised it has been so far, I have seen very light snizzle at best.
But the real good stuff will be here soon

The system doesn't look like it is pushing much further north. Somebody tell me I'm wrong - PLEASE!
It is mate, just very slightly, it's a good thing though. Looking like a whole night of snow going by how slow it's moving.

Lol great post. I would take a whole month or two of soggy mild south-westerlies if we could just have one epic prolonged cold spell.
