  1. Well the blob is really performing 7 miles east of here in Wickham Market.....2 inches of snow in 15 minutes....nearly got stuck, came across an accident on the way home. Got home safe with my Chinese.....less snow here but covering the roads slightly, got a couple of cm There must be places in East Suffolk getting 10cm from this!
  2. Well I can't say the snow is Heavy.....but it has given about a cm so far and making everything look lovely and wintery. Looking like a heavier patch heading in now. Now heading out to get myself a Chinese about 8 miles South East of here. Going by the radar it's about to get hit by heavy snow. I shall report back......hoping there will be prawn crackers falling from the sky...not just in my car. -0.8C and now dropping again after rising from -2.0C about an hour ago.
  3. East of Norfolk and Suffolk. East of a line from about Norwich to about Sudbury in Suffolk.
  4. Just said on Look East that a warning is now in force for THE BLOB! EDIT: Indeed....there is! Issued at:1611 on Thu 17 Jan 2013 Valid from:1800 on Thu 17 Jan 2013 Valid to:2355 on Thu 17 Jan 2013 Snow showers will move slowly westwards from the North Sea into eastern parts of Norfolk and Suffolk through this evening, giving local accumulations of 5 cm of fresh snow. The public are advised of the continuing risk of some disruption to travel.
  5. Friends across East Suffolk are reporting snow. Apparently snowing and settling on road in Woodbridge. Areas such as Snape and Aldeburgh are getting heavy snow going by the radar. It's pushing inland a little quicker now. Could be a couple of centimeters for much of East Suffolk this evening. Anglia Weather said maybe 5cm from the showers tonight........something else to keep me entertained this evening! Very said to hear a man has died in Suffolk, thought to be because he was clearing snow and collapsed. PLEASE keep an eye on your elderly neighbours this weekend. Just popping your head in the door can make the world of difference. Also, in our town centers, if you see someone homeless, just buy them a hot drink. Only costs a pound. I know some people don't give to the homeless as they don't trust the fact that they are homeless at all. I don't think anyone pretending to be homeless will be choosing to sit out on the street this weekend. Stay safe all
  6. The blob is here!! And it's heavier than the radar shows! Giving a fresh covering HAPPPYYYYYYY!!!
  7. Well this is a tad frustrating....the blob is giving snow to the next village a mile up the road..... Wind has turned from the South East now,....it's moving north west!
  8. It seems to be a glitch with the page. Our region is not under the red warning.
  9. As a side note.....there is also a warning for Saturday and Sunday........ "The band of snow will slowly weaken through Saturday morning with further accumulations of 5 cm over central areas. Further snow showers will spread into many eastern areas giving 2-5 cm of snow in places and as much as 10 cm over high ground. During the evening ice will form in many areas where there is snow cover, lasting into Sunday morning. " So even if the front doesn't provide the east of the region with much....there is still hope!
  10. Are we still expecting maybe a little bit of light snow tomorrow evening first? I know this was mentioned. I have enjoyed the burger jokes this evening. I didn't however enjoy my Tesco burgers for dinner....still got a bit between my teeth Sorry....feel free to hate me for that one. To eat or not to eat a Tesco burger.......that is equestrian.
  11. -6.9C here now.....shivering within 1 minute of being outside...and I never usually feel the cold. Friend of mine is recording -8.1C down the road where they have deeper snow cover.
  12. Just went to buy some of those burgers on Tescos Online....it's easy, click on "burgers", and then click "add to cart". Wattisham is leading the way at the moment. Was recording -7C at 5pm! Local radio was saying today that Debenham in Suffolk recorded -15C last night. Quite possible as it's in a valley and has god snow cover. I think it was Steve M who said earlier somewhere in East Anglia may see -18C tonight. That's cold even for Scotland!
  13. Despite the recent news, Tesco says that their beef burger sales remain stable........I'll get my coat. Infact I need my coat....it's -5.5C here currently and dropping well!
  14. Interestingly a warning for rain has been issued by the MetOffice for N. Ireland on Friday, stating there could be between 20-40mm of rain. Certainly plenty of moisture expected then. Roughly that equates to 20-40cm of snow.....more if its very dry!
  15. Very intersting seeing showers now developing to the east of Norfolk and Suffolk. Look heavy. Will they make it to land? Will they make it a little way inland?.....somthing to keep the radar interesting.
  16. On a brighter note, Metoffice new warning for Friday are interesting. Looking at the Cheif Forecaster's Assessment, the risk of impact is at it's highest, but the condifence at its lowest, hence the warning falling into the yellow catagory. Confidence is a tad higher further west hense the amber warning there. As confidence increases it has the potential to be changed to a red warning.
  17. Morning all.. -10.1C here currently, tad nippy! Got another hour or so for that to drop too! See Marham is recording -11C And before anyone asks, I haven't got the thermometer on the ground. My Davis is set up at over 2m from ground level.
  18. Still -5.2C here with some mist/fog. Not a breath of wind an lovely clear sky. Off to bed now, up at 5.30 to drive to work (Colchester). Be interesting to look at what temperatures are being reported around dawn. Long day of model watching tomorrow! Snowy dreams all! PS. Anyone between Felixestowe and Clacton....keep an eye out to the East.....decent shower incoming, could give a dusting within the next hour or two
  19. Interesting point there. Some people can get their snow fix by going to the Alps etc and seeing 2 meters of snow. That however does nothing for me at all. I like to see the landscape I know so well change......have I got some sort of non sexual fetish!? haha Is your loft very well insulated? Do you have a header tank in the loft? For anyone who does it can be a real problem. Insulating your loft keeps the house warmer, but the loft space much colder as that feed of warm air from you living area disappears. When it gets very cold for a number of nights, I open the loft hatch a tad to raise the temperature by a degree or two. I know it means more heating, but it's far cheaper than a burst pipe!!
  20. Very!!....if only we could all have an even share! (Not that I'm offering Cornwall any of the 2cm I currently have)
  21. I am such a lover of 'severe' weather that I would rather have a very long as sustained cold spell and have to give up luxuries to pay to heat my house. Maybe that's just me. Would be interesting to see what people (in a completely theoretical sense) would pay for a severe weather event. Let's start the bidding for a 1947 winter.....I will start the bidding at £1000.
  22. The point I am trying to make is that if the cold is there, especially for a decent period, then snow will usually occur.
  23. -5.3C here now. Just seen XCweather showing -8C for Norwich at 21:50. All the right ingredients are there for a cold night.....looking forward to seeing where we are circa 6am!
