  1. Anyone seen the CF forecast for this week? I sadly missed but i guess it be high pressure dominating leaving dry if rather cloudy conditions at times.
  2. I don't know what you are going about here Ratty as you are obviously appear to be going on sites and probs pick a line out of those and make it into your own argument and then starting to talk about something else involving GW. Also you are copying and pasting pictures from other sites, is this a breech of copyright i wonder?.
  3. Nice to see the snow patches surviving the summer months. Hopefully it won't be too long untill the snow comes back.
  4. They(BBC) could argue that the pressure charts are on the BBC weather website if people want to view them what i was trying to say.
  5. I find the SKY forecasts poor and confusing. At least with the beeb 3D graphics they are much better but when ever a big snow event comes along the graphics do keep sticking alot which is a disadvantage over the symbols. I am with TWS that i am confused why if people don't understand pressure charts show them on the regional forecasts and not on the national forecasts. I can only assume that the national forecasts have to fit more detail in there time slot than the regional forecasts. I also agree with Jackone that the BBC forecasts are the best on the box(and it should be with the liscence fee) ITV forecasts are really poor SKYS rain graphic is awful and confusing C4 and FIVE forecats i hardly watch however even only watching them a few times i don't really trust there accurasy. I feel sadly that even if you go and beg bring pressure charts back they won't because the majority don't want to and they won't bring something back just because people who are interested in the weather want to. Its a shame we only going to see them on very few occasions but they could argue thats there pressure charts on there site if people want to look at them.
  6. I sort of agree but i'm sure i heard when the graphics was introduced that the forecasts were to be made more simple and easier to follow. Obviously people did not understand the pressure charts hence you see less of them. Not all newsnight viewers are interested in the weather as us people on this forum so maybe thats why they are not using them. In the news 24 forecasts pressure charts only seemed to be used when a major weather patten is changing but these are rare occasions John Hammond showing a possible northerly scnario on the 10:35 forecast for example or whenever the presenter decided to use them. However there is some good news pressure charts are being used on the local forecasts(Look north NE and Cumbria) quite alot showing the isobars for the next 5 days so there is a positive but i guess the policy made to forecasters make the forecasts simple to follow or people will switch off and to be fair pressure charts are not the easiest to follow.
  7. Remember though Shuggee, the forecaster only got an limit amount of time to present a forecast so maybe they have not got time for pressure charts especially since touring the UK at 8/9AM introduced with the graphics. Joe public may not understand them but joe public will never understand them if the forecasts are not used. Would joe public understand the basics of a pressure charts? eg whats high pressure and what low pressure? Having saying that most people want to know weather its going to rain or not and don't care about the pressure charts and i feel people written in to get rid of them sadly. Sadly only the Countryfile forecasts offer you pressure charts these days.
  8. The one i mostly see are Blackbirds, sometimes seagulls come early morning. I hardley see any robins, just the odd one and i see a couple of Magpies but thats about it however don't know all the names of birds.
  9. Surpriced i have to say that particular area get loads of earthquakes albeit small and hardley noticetable. Won't like living there i have to admit.
  10. Very impressive hail storm i must say. Looks freezing outside too.
  11. I personally believe a tad above average Sept of 14.3.
  12. Ok thanks for that, i was wondering why he did not stay for long but hes coming back accoriding to you.
  13. I guess thats how the weather goes - its not as simple as reading the charts and mother nature has the final say. I was not too fussed about the lack of wind but i do feel the warnings was a bit hype up and actually this event is just a 'normal' rain event which normally happens in Northern Scotland and therefore normally ignored by the MO and even users on here. Perhaps my POV would of changed if i was in the strong winds mind you. However looking at the radar the rain was mostly light and was probably the drizzle type. Rain did get heavier in the evening here and it got darker aswell which was correctly forecasted by the Met Office and the BBC.
  14. Thanks for the explanation Nick but surely the centre of the low has not been there all day though? Like i said not hardly a breath of wind whilst the met office predicted 40MPH+. To me this 'event' has been slightly hyped up by the Met office i feel. Had quite an heavy shower before - you just feel frustrated why they don't happen in the day time where they can be thundery!
  15. What i found odd today was how lights the winds were. I was expecting strong gusty breezes but all we had was breezy despite pressure being around 990MB. I mean when we had like over 1010MB we can still get gusty winds Any reason for this? Was this area over the centre of low pressure or something?
  16. It is unusural for this time of year and the only mist should be forming is from low cloud scnarios, certainly not summery weather and shows Autumn is around the corner.
  17. Must be quite misty/foggy up on the higher rotes as looking at tall building the mist thickens. Bit of mist here on lower levels aswell.
  18. Must of been that date you menturned then, because i remember the foggy night and i looked out the window and saw a flash of lightning so i just kept watching. What i remembered the fog did clear here as soon the rain came so i had pretty good views watching the sheet lightning liting up the whole place. A storm to remember i say. I was probably slightly anxious back then but now i know if sheet lightning occurs i know it can't strike your house(or can it?). Thats quite unlucky i must say. My house never been strucked yet and hopefully it never will(touch wood) and thats the only thing i hate about thunderstorms.
  19. Watch out for Mars towards the East just after 12. Should appear as a red dot.
  20. Saw me first shooting star of the evening heading West to East looking south
  21. That actually quite a good question there. I assume(as saint already menturned) the whole country will se the same shooting stars(of corse if the weather is permitting). Optimus prime - according to the experts look in the NE direction and apparantly going from East to West.
  22. I think people are underestimating the winds slightly. Trees are in full leaf and especially in high rainfall they can fall down much easier so we can't rule out the potential damage, Winds i will say may range from 40MPH-60MPH perhaps 70 in more exposed and coastal locations.
  23. I got a question:- Why do i see some users with Members(nos) and Members(nof) what are they??
  24. I don't think so but like you said if you on top of it you probably will but nothing severe. Saying that i don't know i never experianced an earthquake and i hope i never will.
  25. Minor earthquake hit Manchester today measured 2.5 on the richter scale. No reports of damage or injuries BBC link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6940546.stm Sorry mods if this is in the wrong area be free to move into the right area.
