  1. This one is of the wind farm off the Great Yarmouth coast, I took this from the beach at Lowestoft so that's probably why its not as crisp a photograph as I would have liked. I should think that the wind farm is several miles away from where I was standing with my little camera.
  2. This is a photograph I took on Saturday 10.03.07 of two very brave men working on the huge wind turbine at Lowestoft.
  3. Got my earlier prediction of no snow for Lowestoft completly wrong. My house is on a cliff facing the North Sea, and the strong easterly wind is turning the heavy snow into blizzard conditions. Sadly not settling, the salt from the sea puts pay to that.
  4. I live at the most easterly point of the UK, about 40 yards from the North Sea. There is a moderate easterly wind, and amazingly the temperature here has risen quite dramatically in the last hour. It was minus 2 degrees at around 6am, now it's plus 2 and rising. There is now no frost, and incredibly it's beginning to feel quite mild. Very strange weather. With an easterly wind here it's normally freezing. I'll stick my neck out and say there is No Chance of snow here.
  5. Temp -2 Wind from the east cloudy frosty dry
  6. We're not far from you in Lowestoft. My company use the Met Office "Open Road" text service, they were forecasting snow this morning for most of the day Thursday. Our latest message from them now says rain, no snow. So I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  7. Temp =3 Sunny Frosty Looks like the residents of North Suffolk will get the most snow tomorrow. My business uses the Met Office "Open Road" road weather forecast package. After receiving our text updates from there, we have already called our customers to tell them that we won't be making any deliveries tomorrow.
  8. Temp 7c Overcast Wind from the North
  9. Lowestoft, Suffolk Temp 10c Suns just coming through. Moderate breeze
  10. While I was down on the beach in front of my house yesterday afternoon, I noticed some guys surveying the sea defences, and the beach levels. They were using theodolites, and lots of new fangled laser level equipment. Being a nosey cow I asked one of them what they were doing. He said that due to the rise in sea level the long shore drift of the shingle beds had pushed the beach level up by more than 60cm in the last year. So they were calculating how high the defences needed to be, or if there was any point in undertaking the necessary work. I had been wondering why I could now just step over the sea wall onto the beach. We used to have to walk down about 10 concrete steps. I get the feeling this global warming stuff is going to start affecting peoples lives a lot quicker than we think. If anyone's interested in knowing the area I'm talking about, it's the North Beach part of North Lowestoft.
  11. Lowestoft, Suffolk Foggy Temp 8c
  12. I promise this is the last one. This is a photograph I took on the beach in front of my house of "Gulliver", the massive wind turbine that dominates the skyline of Lowestoft. Congratulations to everyone that posted their photographs in here, there are some really nice ones.
  13. Sorry I didn't realise. Don't know how to remove them, could one of the admin people take all my pictures off. Many thanks. Diane

  18. My house looks out over the North Sea, and the weather has changed completly from first thing this morning. It was quite mild, and clear. Now the wind has really built up, the clouds are racing in, and its started to snow.
  19. Lowestoft, Suffolk. The Most Easterly Town In The UK. Very mild. No frost Wind from the east. I think the met office got our weather badly wrong today
  20. Been snowing here in Lowestoft for most of the morning. Stopped long enough for me to pop down to the beach to take this photograph. I was gutted that someone had put the "No Swimming" sign up, I was looking forward to a refreshing dip in the North Sea.

  23. Just went down to the beach in front of my house. This North East wind is really kicking the sea up today. Took this photograph at 11.48 this morning. Ended up getting rather wet, and very cold. Too dangerous to hang around there after that. This things I'll do just to try and win something. By the time I took the second pic I knew it was time to start running.
