  1. So far this morning in Lowestoft we've had about an hour of snow, then rain, now hail stones as big as, hail stones.
  2. Lowestoft, Suffolk Bitterly cold. I took this photograph from my garden at 08.30 Then the snow began to fall.
  3. Lowestoft Suffolk. 11.13am Bitterly cold north easterly wind. The first northerly this winter. I now realise why the house I bought right on the cliffs facing the North Sea was so cheap.
  4. A photograph I took at Somerleyton, which is a few miles from where I live in Lowestoft. Temperature really started to drop rapidly as I was taking this pic of the sunset.
  5. Lowestoft 07.57 Temp 12c Cloudy This really isn't winter. The birds are singing in my garden, I still have pears hanging on my pear tree. It feels like Spring
  6. Lowestoft 15.35 Miserable and and raining most of the day
  7. Lowestoft 11.46am Beautiful cold crisp sunny winters morning. Thick frost. Been for a long walk along the beach. No wind
  8. Lowestoft 10.10am Overcast and light rain. Chilly. Last night I saw a fantastic Lunar Halo. I've never seen one before, it was truly beautiful.
  9. Lowestoft 15.44 Gale force winds. Very stormy looking. The sea is very rough.
  10. Lowestoft 08.19 Cloudy with light Rain Pressure 985 hPa, Falling Temp 10.6c
  11. Lowestoft 12.42 Very very windy. Did anyone predict it was going to be this windy today? Lowestoft 12.45 Even windier, skys gone black, and it's raining sideways.
  12. I'm getting the feeling that the best way to give a weather forecast is to look out of the window. Diane
  13. Thanks Nick So we've pinned it down to January or February 2007. Does that weather predicting equipment cost much? Diane
  14. Thanks for the technical information Nick. So which one of the weather experts on here will give me a prediction of when the next Easterly Winds will hit the UK?
  15. Thanks for the reply John. Yes we had a few light breezes from off the sea during august, but I'm really interested in the actual wind, and weather systems coming from the North or Easterly direction. I'll try the Met Office site. Thanks again. Diane PS Attached a photograph I took of an area of the coast about 3/4 mile north of where I now live. This is the beach between Corton and Hopton. I should think the residents here will be praying they don't get too many weather systems coming in from the East or North. The cliffs are protected, but any big sea swell brings down another large chunk.
  16. I'm very new to all this weather watching stuff, only started since I moved to North Lowestoft, where my house is on a cliff overlooking the North Sea. We have been here for exactly 5 months today, and in that time the wind hasn't once blown from a North, or North Easterly direction. I'm now aware that the vast majority of our weather comes from the Atlantic, so it's reasonable to expect the wind to come from a westerly, or south westerly direction for most of the year. What I would like to know is if there are any records or statistics in relation to wind direction across the UK? 5 months seems an awfully long time without the wind coming from a different direction, but I might be wrong, this could be completely normal.
  17. The predicted big storm is breaking up as it hits the UK coast and will be just squally showers.
  18. Lowestoft 09.17 Temp: 11c No wind Light rain
  19. Thanks Paul. By the way it's torrential rain, and thunder and lightning here right now.
  20. This is probably the most stupid question you have had on here, but I've just joined so thought I would ask it anyway. I've recently moved to North Lowestoft in Suffolk, and my house overlooks the North Sea facing East. We have been here about 4 months and in that time the wind has only come from the South and West. Could someone explain why the wind comes only from those directions? Many thanks.
