  1. One of those 7C days, 4C nights type months I feel. Accordingly I'll go for 5.5C (and hope for less rain!)
  2. What were most of you thinking? Even the beginning of the month didn't look that mild as I posted.
  3. I'm surprised too, for a large part of the first 10 days the CET zone is likely to be in the 'green' area ie sub-0C 850s. This doesn't guarantee cold weather at this time of year but it's unlikely to bring particularly mild conditions either. And obviously it's a cooling month...
  4. I must admit, I feel old saying it But we have been spoiled for our location in recent years. Big snow and extreme cold would be great but if it were a choice between merely 'colder than average' and exceptionally mild, I'd take the mild as the former would just be a disappointment and a bigger expense.
  5. I'd have no problems with it. We've had snow and extremes of cold (on the Ayrshire coast ice days and sub -10C mins are extreme, believe me!) during many winter months recently plus March this year and November 2010. As many have said, it would save the heating bills. If anything I would prefer it to a 'colder than average winter' without snow. Where's the fun in that?
  6. If you look now at around +216, the 12z and 18z are virtually identical. Not often you see that at that range.
  7. Very cold this morning, 3C at Prestwick Airport, cool day, wet outside and dark already. Today feels like the start of autumn proper.
  8. July was glorious here, sunshine for days on end, most days above 20C (yes, in the West of Scotland this is heatwave territory!) and the ground had that parched look for weeks, changed towards the end of July though as conditions broke down. August very dull and disappointing though, a poor summer month for the last decade now. June was mixed with a nice first 10 days then duller and wetter. At least at no point you could ever say it was a washout
  9. 14.7 please. Some warmth looking likely early month with the jet taking a long-awaited holiday north.
  10. I've had sunburn here in mid-October (equivalent to early March), it DOES happen!
  11. Also the last time first three months of the year were sub 4.
