  1. Does anyone have any satalite pictures of whats been going on to the system approaching us for thursday?
  2. certainly looks good, that forecast is based on the 00z though wait until about 9pm tonight and see what it says after the 12z as thats more reliable usually, I think by 11 tonight when we have all the latest fax charts etc we should beable to pin down alot more of the details.
  3. I think as long as it starts to snow before the frost melts then the snow should settle rapidly so im hoping if we get snow it starts around 6am, what kind of accumulations do people think the areas that get snow will recieve?, metcheck saying several centimetres
  4. The detail could change at any moment up until its actually on your doorstep, as to whether it'l make a difference coming from the sw, i would assume itl carry more moisture meaning hopefully more snow than most of us have seen for somewhile
  5. They had one since yesterday, theyve just gone into a little more detail this morning.
  6. Out of the 3 gfs runs i see each day 06z, 12z and 18z the 06z always seems to progressive, the best and most cosistant run for me has to be the 12z, the 18z seems to flip from 1 extreme to the other.
  7. I know its probably the better of the two situations to have as long as it goes to plan, but it could turn out people who arent expecting snow end up with it and people like myself find ourselves on the anti depressants after its gone t*ts up within +60 hours, im praying though i actually get to see a decent snowfall as i cant really remember one.
  8. I wouldnt be to fussed either if it is snow followed by rain would be nice to see it go out with a bang (blizzard)
  9. They are excellent and im very excited for this area on thursday for something ive not seen probably since 96 here, saturdays chart looks more like a snow followed by rain event to me though, what do others think?
  10. over-rated/ over-ramped?? if some places ended up with 20cm of level snow that wouldnt look like a good comment, how ever if they got rain all day it would look excellent, the proof will be here soon enough and hopefully for every1 it will be a classic.
  11. I emailed it him just before his forecast
  12. I think the closer we get the bbc should be the best source to find out whats happening as im sure with the more information and with it being so close to the event there experience along with the info they have available to them the weather forecasts should start to change from a chance of snow but were unsure where, and start to give details of what will actually happen. Might take u up on satalite watching tho teits just incase there uncertainty continues
  13. Thanks for those, slightly different to the others i was told to look at they showed sleet rather than snow for most midland areas, when do people think meto gfs and ecm will all be showing the same thing, at this rate it'l happen before they all agree on whats happening
  14. Do you have all them charts from that system 60 hours through to about 72?
  15. Id still take it quite happily , i just hope it goes the way of the ukmo, so it becomes more prolonged spell.
  16. Well for the central southern areas and the midlands, rain was forecast for saturday its now either sleet or snow,
  17. How believable is that though considering -10 850s are in scotland already and gfs doesnt show -10 at any time in the next 24hours?
  18. Cant complain at +12 it has no -10 850 air into northern scotland though, despite net-weather radar overlay already showing it in scotland right now?? The bbc site has been completely updated now makes very interesting viewing
  19. Id be interested to know if any1 could say what 850 temps were expected for right now, as -10 850s are already into scotland.
  20. I agree caution is needed although charts like this dont come round every day, for me personally i feel it will be tommorow evening, weds morning until thursday can be sured up there abouts, i dont want to look further than that yet but im definately praying for an ukmo friday and saturday.
  21. that fits into line with the easterly being shown for here (midlands) on saturday on the bbc 5day forecasts
  22. Its interesting how when the low pressure moves up through the midlands the -5 850s soon shoot north but then kind of grind to a halt and much of central england then remains in -3 850s throughtout, rather than carrying on increasing towards -2, -1 850's etc.
  23. Not sure where you get your info from but based on the latest fax chart its roughly from northampton northwards that could see some heavy snow thursday morning until eventually turning to rain.
  24. well i think a couple of hours of heavy snow will be something a bit exciting for most on here anyway considering 24th jan's 2cm brought the most snow here in 3 years, and thats likely for a large part of the country as long as your up early, only a couple of upgrades over the next 24 hours and we could have an excellent set up. somewhere between ukmo and gfs would surely be a great scenario tws??
  25. It seems to me the gfs over played the high pressure over scandanavia to begin with, and has now undercooked it, hopefully we get some sort of middle ground as this would probably lead to the best result for most of us
