  1. Since its so quiet in here... The Arpege is interesting!
  2. Medium term? Id say fairly near term as Its already a fair bit different to the 00z at just +96. Models are certainly struggling atm.
  3. Worst cold ish spell ever really for snow in the east mids. Starting to think even if i drew the synoptic charts to how i thought would get us aload of snow it would still end up being 50/50
  4. Certainly a recent intensification into the precip. If i was in the west mids id be pleased with how things are looking. The only possible issue is if temps rise above 0. The periods of light snow wont be enough to see any gains.
  5. The nmm suggests it should intensify between now and 1am so perhaps for those particularly further west it could be a decent evening and tomorrow morning.
  6. It could snow at this rate for 2 weeks before it put a cm down lol. Hopefully it peps up a bit
  7. Its like diamond dust. very fine snow flakes when temps are extremely low. Google description.. a type of precipitation composed of slowly falling, very small, unbranched crystals of ice which often seem to float in the air; it may fall from a high cloud or from a cloudless sky, it usually occurs under frosty weather conditions (under very low air temperatures
  8. Very light snow here despite nothing overhead according to the radar.
  9. The one further north seems to catch the other im not confident of much if anything here though.
  10. I think a dusting to 1/2cms is possible but thats about it.
  11. NMM does not show alot but its still the best for the midlands...
  12. 12z GFS and 12z GFS para are both pretty poor to say the least
  13. GFS 12z coming out but going by the fact is wrong at +3 im not sure its worth paying to much attention to.
  14. 6z NMM still decent. Its 11am is bang on currently. If that means anything.
  15. MET O update... Updated: 10:40 (UTC) on Thu 7 Jan 2021 Reason for update The warning has been updated to make this a dual snow/ice warning with the area extended southwards across more of central and southwest England. The warning end time has also been delayed until the end of Friday. Showers, a mixture of rain sleet and snow, are expected to fall onto frozen surfaces leading to icy stretches forming. In addition, a more persistent spell of rain and hill snow is likely to move south across northern England and north Wales during Thursday evening and night. This then gradually moving into parts of central and southwest England and southeast Wales on Friday. Whilst ice is expected to be the most widespread hazard, snow is likely in places too. Snow is most likely to fall over The Pennines, North York Moors and the high ground of Wales and southwest England, with 2-5 cm possible here. Elsewhere, whilst some snowfall is possible, accumulations are likely to be slight and temporary. Freezing fog patches are also likely to persist and may prove an additional hazard with areas of visibility less than 100 m at times.
  16. Il check the 12zs before seeing if keeping an eye on the radar is worthwhile
  17. Id imagine given UKV and arpege outputs the words patchy, light, Rain sleet snow, possible accumulations 1-3cms in some areas will about it
  18. 06z gfs doesn't. Settling snow mainly confined to Wales and Northern England
  19. Further East looks more marginal on all the model outputs ive seen but provided remains as snow throughout it could be a good place to be.
