    Decent snow coming down now everywhere starting to get a covering.

    Light dusting here in Southend in the past hour, some heavier bursts during the day that didn't settle, nothing to report of now though just dry and very cold in the wind! EDIT- A heavier burst of fine snow starting to fall, more importantly ties in with the radar returns which in these easterly can be dodgy!! EDIT - After the disappointments we have had in south essex this winter I'm not going to get overly stressed on this one, I have Kronenbourg in hand, Mr Brightside by the killers on very loud and a curry later to look forward to, plus lets not forget a cracking night at roots hall on wednesday night!!! Wembley here we come!!!

    Has to be said radar returns and movement do not look good for 95% of the south east at present, early days though I guess!!

    Had proper snow flakes on and off all day pretty heavy at times but nothing settled, since night fall and temps dropped we have started to see the small flakes/graupel settle on all surfaces except the roads at present.

    Time to start afresh for the night ahead, conditions were just on the wrong side of marginal here for settling snow so far, temps are now the lowest they have been all day at 0.5c and dropping and light snow showing signs of not melting finally.

    Definately the best snow all day but still yet to settle, temp falling and DP on the up so moving on the right direction supported by the heavy snow showers.

    Sun breaking through the clouds and the heaviest snow of the day, could promote some convection?

    Need to swap a degree on the temp and DP's, on and off heavier bursts in Leigh as PS just said.

    Light snow falling in Southend for last 5 mins, proper flakes not just grain.

    1.5c with DP at 0.0c flakes starting to appear in Southend finally!

    And another little drop in temp bodes well.

    Seems from reports that Essex north could get some snow plus the north downs due to height.

    And down the temps and DP's go.

    And a further 0.1 drop, temp below 2c with a sub zero DP will fall as snow.

    DP and temp dropped another 0.1, warmer sector getting mixed out, rain to snow could occur before return to rain later on.

    Temp stayed steady at 1.4c for a while, more importantly DP dropped from -0.4 to -0.6.

    Although not going to be spectacular tonight its nice to see things like evaporative cooling coming into effect instead of just reading about it, how you can go from 2.0c with everything wet and be streseed to 0.5ish and settling on the wet surfaces!

    I think your little bit of height has given you a head start Paul, temp falling still here with a slush building on the car roofs.

    Well we have snow shrimper! DP's well ok but would like to see the temp fall further although has droped 0.3 in last half hour.

    Really poor rainfall forecast by the MMM, last one suggests precipitation coming from the North East over East Anglia sinking south, instead nothing there and coming from the South East!!

    If my work life let me I would happily move away myself, weather can turn so quick up there, in the morning I drove across the peaks and was nice and sunny and in the afternoon snake pass A57 was blocked of by police as snow gates closed.

    Went to peak district in December to get out of the rat race and do some hill walking it's a stunning place!

    Band really starting to intensify over the past 10 mins!
