They do see it as a war after all.
  2. Back to normal then for Cumbria and the NW - dry and windy over this side.
  3. It is rather funny that just below the piece castigating B astardi for being an idiot they are trying to imply that an obvious wildly out of line methane measurement graph dot foretells imminent disaster.
  4. It won't be transmitting on a legal UK frequency either. Unlikely you will get caught out with that though. But if you wanted a 2nd console for another room you would have to get the appropriate one from USA again. Customs will charge you VAT and import tax, savings are not as great as they appear bearing in mind possible hassle should there be a warranty issue.
  5. Hardly, it is surprising how variable it is, you often see an early drop then quite a 'warm' spike before it really falls away. Could speculate - without checking - that the warmer incursions are related to autumn storms sending warm air north? 1991 1984 2012
  6. They've gone from here - no wonder, it's really chilly the last two days.
  7. Also barely light early afternoon at the ice cams now. http://psc.apl.washington.edu/northpole/NPEO2012/WEBCAM1/ARCHIVE/npeo_cam1_20120912133615.jpg http://psc.apl.washington.edu/northpole/NPEO2012/WEBCAM2/ARCHIVE/npeo_cam2_20120912125139.jpg
  8. Well yes, but the significant thing is it isn't going up at all, never mind as much as predicted. So the lengthy attempt to dismiss the non-trend rather falls flat IMO.

    August sunrise

From the album: North York Moors Weather

Sunrise is no longer at some unearthly hour by late August. In accordance with the old rhyme it did rain later but since then September has had no measurable rain until today the 10th.
  10. Squeezed one more dry day here, just as well as I have baled my last bit of straw combined yesterday. There have been a few spits of drizzle and only brief sunny patches today. Windy too.
  11. September is traditionally the harvesting month when spring sown crops were the norm. Still is the case further north with wheat especially. Ground is dry (usually) and the reducing solar input means showers have lost the energy we see in July and August. Here September is more or less 3-way tie with March and May for the driest.
  12. While not exactly 'disappointing' I would've thought we'd get higher temperatures than there's been in this spell. It has been quite windy and often patchy cloud though. Anyway 21.9c yesterday and 21.4C today
  13. It's been about 21C and sunny here this afternoon but it's windy and really feels a bit cool in just a Tshirt. OK if busy doing something, but if you wanted to sit out for a few minutes, not quite comfortable surprisingly.
  14. Half the problem with all the failed predictions is that they are mostly based on trying to convince 'us' that the worst aspects of any recent weather patterns must be somehow caused by CO2 because CO2 must only do bad things, like wiping out pretty butterflies while simultaneously encouraging rampant plagues of yucky slimey things. It's a sort of political opportunist propaganda, and the Met Office chiefs are in thick of it. Truth is they don't know. They don't have a clue - because climate is far too complex and chaotic to be modeled in any meaningful way. But they won't admit this or even mention it in their predicted scenarios. And by the way if we had £X million more we might be better at Chances are the ice will similarly confound the sure-certain predictions and follow it's normal undulations in extent since the impact we might have is being grossly over-stated as usual.

Organic food is not better nutritionally and generates more greenhouse gasses. http://www.independent.co.uk/hei-fi/news/study-casts-doubt-on-benefits-of-organic-produce-8103974.html?origin=internalSearch The BBC omit the part about CO2 as that would be just too much negativity in one article, and Peter Melchett would likely explode. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19465692
  16. It's very mis-leading of Wunderground to claim Aiguille du Midi is 'snow free'. The station there is on a rocky pinnacle as shown in the picture and does not hold much snow, all but when you look down the sides there are extensive snow fields of considerable depth which certainly won't have melted.

Richard Black, 'The Team's' man at the BBC moves on. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/correspondents/richardblack/
  18. That's annoying, I wonder if they slightly over-tightened something on re-assembly. How bad is it though, I notice my VP2 is slightly reluctant to move until wind speed gets to at least 2mph but it hardly matters and makes it less 'flappy;.
  19. Nearby Topcliffe is often the coldest in the country. Prone to prolonged freezing fog too, the differences will become much more noticeable through winter.
  20. Val Thorens has a dusting, often it seems stubbornly dry and sunny here even into November. http://livecam.valthorens.com/index.php?langue=2
  21. I think it happens most years, it can snow any day of the year in the Alps and sometimes to surprisingly low levels with wet snow falling and cooling the air in enclosed valleys. Stelvio has a good cover too.
  22. Thanks for that , I got lost trying to find archive charts on wetterzentrale!
