  1. ................................................................................................yes.
  2. Oh look....! A whole flock of flying pigs just went past my window!! I've got my membership of the NSC to maintain!
  3. Arrrrrrgh! Currently knawing my own arm off in sheer frustration!
  4. Have to say.....absolutely glorious weather up here now. Feels warmer now than at any point of the day, clear blue skys with broken Cu. Actually feeling like a proper summers evening!!
  5. 19.4C!! Don't think we hit that in the whole of June here! Currently at 12C!
  6. Might as well cut and paste this to save the effort typing it out, because it's exactly the same every day......!! Overcast, 100% cloud cover, dull, small amount of drizzle at about 6am. 13c.
  7. We definitely won't be seeing any action of any sort here today. Got the usual cloudy overcast murk.
  8. Nothing happening here. Wake me up when something does! lol
  9. Yep, looks like being yet another non-event for us this week....far too much cloud cover and still stuck with this drizzly mess. Heads pounding though.
  10. Drizzle drizzle and more drizzle. Overcast and very dull 13c
  11. I have an amateur interest in psychology and was curious to know what type of effects weather has on peoples mood and general well-being. The effects of a lack of sunlight on serotonin and other neuro-transmitters in the brain is of course medically proven, and cases of seasonal affective disorder well documented. My own take is that the current weather is making me feel exceptionally tired, and physically and mentally drained and dispirited. I am finding it hard to get up in the mornings and get motivated. We have had a pretty much continuous spell here of dull, overcast, cool conditions with drizzly rain at best for the past four or five months and I wonder if this plays a big part in how I am currently feeling. In addition, as a six year member of the NSC, I miss the adrenaline rush and excitement of a good storm! I am interested to know other takes on this. In addition, I wonder about the levels of Vitamin D in people at the moment, especially children, and what effect this current weather might have on them. It was getting dark at 8pm here yesterday and by 9.15pm the streetlamps were on and cars had headlamps on! In high summer! Would welcome knowing how the weather makes people feel. It's a big big influence on our lives. Discuss....:-)
  12. Definitely nothing on the cards for us here today, and not exactly hopeful for thurs or fri. Yet again we have 100% cloud cover inhibiting any convection. And we have the drizzly mess that has characterised our weather pretty much all year. Good luck to everyone else but for us I fear this week was always a non-starter....
  13. Ooo...just had another look at that CAPE/Li for Friday for us. Right on the border of a hotspot, definitely within driving distance.... PLEASE DO NOT DOWNGRADE!!
  14. I'm still inclined to believe we won't see any action this week. Looking at the top chart, we are firmly slap bang in that western corridor that is not showing any TS activity expected. I know it's certainly not 100% accurate at the moment but I think we will be in the situation we were in on thursday last, where the nearest activity to us was Staffs/ W. Midlands, progressing north up the M6 corridor. That's not wishing to sound negative, I truly hope we see something this week. Just not confident ATM. Might just keep the camera charged up ready though.........just in case lol
  15. Don't think I'm going to bother this week, it certainly doesn't seem to be looking hopeful for the "Cheshire Triangle" at the moment. They will come up from the SW, get deflected by the Clwydian Range and do the usual eastward turn.We just don't have enough energy in the atmosphere in these parts at the moment. I think we will be in for another day like last thursday. Dull, drizzley rain and cool.
  16. I've just got back from manchester airport after doing some aviation photography, and I can honestly say I can't take much more of this weather now. Not getting above 12c atm, driving cold rain and a biting wind. This would be a poor day in october, never mind July...Seriously fed up.
  17. Under a pretty sharp shower at the moment that at least "feels" convective, compared to the drizzle dross of recent times!
  18. Thanks to everyone who replied! Yep, been reading up and Pileus gets the vote! Can put a name to it now! Cheers :-)
  19. Cruelly, it never quite made it to an anvil! But it stands out because compared to the drizzly dull dross we have had to endure her recently, it was actually an interesting thing to photograph lol! Such is our desperation!
  20. Thanks! Will take a look! Appreciated Looking for another shot of it. 5 mins. :-)
  21. Education from the learned members appreciated here. I took this shot on thursday last week, after the cold front had moved in, post the storm-fest (none of which in Cheshire of course, we got to see).....two questions? 1: What caused the fine cloud structure at the top of the cloud. It seemed to be part of the main cloud and then the main cloud kind of "punched" through it.... 2: With more heat and energy available, would this cloud have created any electrical activity? Or was it cruelly getting my hopes up! Education much appreciated! Thanks guys and girls.
  22. yep. Same here. Didnt even rain for us. Just dull and overcast all day.
