  1. Understand that and I never pay attention but many friends / family with little interest in the weather rely solely on the app forecast. Surely if there is a warning for severe weather some sort of manual override should kick in. Enough moaning, latest charts and models looking good for most of area and temps looking to be just above freezing for most of the day. Hopefully any snow won't be washed away or instantly melt!
  2. Im in the Met Office amber warning area. Met Office app states 3 hrs of sleet. If human forecasters say one thing and the app says another, do they not have some sort of error message in their system to prevent confusing messages to the public?
  3. Based on recent forecasts and model output I am no longer expecting snow tomorrow. A shame but no point getting wound up about it. Hopefully plenty more winter prospects over the next 3-4 months!
  4. BBC weather (Stav) just showed the snow all way up to almost Newcastle tomorrow then more on Monday towards Pennines. Met office have upgraded my snow forecast since yesterday. Models show it all further south. So currently BBC/met office Vs computers! Will it snow??? Snow idea!
  5. I made a gif of snow forecast from GFS 06 data. Much easier to see snow potential from multiple time stamps than just one specific. Shows the amber warning area under snow for pretty much 24hrs. Hope the link works!
  6. The met office snow/ice warning has moved ever so slightly eastward. Now covers much of west Yorkshire with Leeds and Wakefield on the eastern edge.
  7. Looking at local news sites there are a few that have storm surges warnings that are quite a way inland separate from the sea. Not sure if this is just due to rainfall flooding lakes/rivers or the surge from the sea pushing back up through the underground water system?
  8. Whilst on holiday previously in Florida, Bay News 9 boasted that they have the most advanced broadcast weather radar in the world. Should make for good viewing as Irma approaches. http://www.baynews9.com/Doppler9000.html
  9. The time is Florida time, so I'm guessing pic is literally 15 minutes ago. No escape unfortunately.
  10. Yes, the time capture suggests 630pm UK time so the storm hasn't really got going yet and it's already washing up and over the sea wall. The link below provides an indication of Key West elevation. It's basically b****r all. http://www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov/topic/subtopic.php?topicid=82 http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=b856157008e74621b519ae55b72b38a3&extent=-81.8146,24.5418,-81.7304,24.5842
  11. Intense rainfall rates around royston area near Wakefield/Barnsley
  12. Next radar blob to watch is the one south west of Huddersfield. Will this intensify in the same way as the one near Barnsley or die a death?
  13. Distant rumbles now. Think it's from the storm just north east of Barnsley
  14. Skies definitely building here. Looking on xc weather at the wind directions there appears to be convergence from Newcastle down towards the peak District. This ties in with the latest radar where the showers are forming then drifting east. East of A1 from south Yorkshire northwards would be my guess at most likely areas for storms.
  15. Sun / cloud mix here but incredibly stuffy. Skies look to be darkening to the south beyond emley moor transmitter. Were the storms in SW Scotland forecast, not seen much mention on here.
  16. We just had the rain, no hail unfortunately. Now gloriously sunny and feeling very warm and sticky.
  17. Can't here thunder due to sound of rain on conservatory roof. Not seen rain like this ever!
  18. Large spots of rain and continuous rumbling here. Very dark over towards emley transmission tower.
  19. Yep, heard a couple of deep rumbles too. Torrential rain here, drains overflowing and full of leaves. Great autumn weather!
  20. Some heavier showers now showing up in the south west. Still super warm here but much more humid with quite a bit of cloud.
