Polar Warsaw on the Midlands thread has drawn a map that matches my initial thoughts... Straight into north wales and missing everyone?

Arr OK, so on xc weather the 976 isobar is diagonally across liverpool-ish towards essex. The expectation is for the polar low to essentially hit this isobar and then "bounce" south eastwards hence hitting the region?

Nope, can't see it hitting west Yorks. Its just too far west I reckon. I've been staring at radar and satellite loop for 5 minutes and just can't see it. However I'm no expert so would happily be corrected or re-educated as to what I'm looking at incorrectly.

I'm going to make a call and say its going to miss here tonight. I've been staring at the radar loop and I think it will hit north Wales. Hope I'm wrong....

Its annoying that weather forecasters are paid to forecast but when there is something that their computers struggle with they skip the details.

Been snowing heavily in Leeds centre for last 20 minutes. Covered cars etc. Nice surprise, still wish I was in South Yorkshire though!

Very jealous of South Yorkshire! Seems Sheffield is the sweet spot again. Unfortunately I'm just a few miles too far north.

Heavy shower when I left home leaving 1cm. Very disappointing overnight with no accumulation. A good couple of cm up at gildersome but none in Leeds centre. Doesn't feel that cold either.

I have now heard more thunder today than the whole of last summer. Seem to be quite a few lively showers around the area.

In the last half hour I've had rain, hail, sleet, snow, gusty strong winds and thunder. Certainly not a boring evening but I'm still looking for the first meaningful snow showers that settle.

Torrential hail again now covering car roof. Couple of rumbles of thunder too. Showing on blitzortung lightning monitor app.

Perusing the other forums I can't see anyone that has a decent covering yet. Hailing here again now. Hopefully pick up and have a covering by morning.

Calming down now with some blue sky visible and daylight returning.

Its blowing so hard the snow flakes are sticking to the office windows. Looking on the radar we seem to be in a slim line of showers that have merged hence why Hudds doesn't have any yet.

Dark with snow here. Real blizzard conditions. Not seen it like this in the city centre for a long time. Stating to settle on paths.
